Reviews of City Continental Kensington London Hotel
"The location of the hotel is great, but.. I got the room in the ground floor, and it smelled like mold there and cold. Also, these was a strange sound comming from ventilation system, I told that administrator, and later wrote an email, but no action has been taken. The room itself was clean, quite small, but cozy. I guess the top floors should be better, but the attitude of management is not acceptable for me."
"absolutely disgusting, would give -1000 stars if I could. Hygiene is non existential. There were slugs in our room, the hall was stinking so badly, we always were running through it. Bathroom absolutely disgusting. Everywhere just solid mold. Breakfast as disgusting as everything else. The guy at the reception was nice. Never again. Don't even come close to this rats nest."
"We were given room 168, the air conditioner was blowing hot air about 30 degrees Celsius, window not opening. It was like being in a hot oven. I immediately called the reception hoping I was missing a trick and they would be able to resolve the issue. They were very unhelpful. I then requested a refund as there was no way I would sleep in such a place till morning without collapsing and passing out. They adamantly refused to refund my money. I ended up calling my Credit card company to complain and let them know the situation. There were also other customers queued up complaining about the condition of their rooms to which they were told the management didn’’t care about fixing the air conditioner or other facilities within the hotel. This hotel fails in every aspect of health and safety requirements and should be shut down to avoid serious health problems and possibly death of customers. I had to leave without the refund and found an alternative and safe place."
"It should be illegal for this hotel to keep being in business. The stay is absolutely unbearable. Staff is clueless and very unhelpful. The air conditioner was blowing HOT air which showed 16 degrees on their remote but it felt like 30 degrees and I was finding difficult to breathe and felt suffocated. I called staff and he was clueless and unhelpful. Rooms are small, and dirty, and old, and it felt like being in a nightmare. The wallpaper and rugs were dirty and scary. Had to leave this hotel and book a premier inn instead, where I felt like a civilised human being. The general hotel just looks scary and had an old shaky lift. It looks nothing like the picture! BEWARE!"
"Most appalling place We have ever stayed in. Worse than any third world country accommodation We have stayed in. We were not given the room we booked and paid for, but a filthy little dog box — actually when I think about it, we wouldn’t even put our dog in there. The room was musty and mouldy, the window frame was disintegrating due to dry rot, the carpet was filthy and you couldn’t swing a cat in it the room (room 205). There were 3 of us and we couldn’t move with our luggage. We complained and were told we would be upgraded the next day, the room we were upgraded to the following day was a larger room but in the same state, FILTHY - this time the dry rot was round the shower and in the floor boards under the window closest to the bathroom (room 310). Our advice would be not to accept either of these rooms. We all ended up being very sick with a gastro bug. When I asked at reception (the 1st decent and nice staff member we had encountered) if we could have our room made up she was very obliging, however, when the cleaning staff arrived they refused to make the room up because they had to work around us as our daughter was to sick to leave the room. The nice receptionist upgraded our room again that day and we spent our remaining two days in London felling miserable. This accommodation ruined the first part of our holiday and put our daughter of London, which we are trying to change. We have reported the to bookings and who we booked through and I wrote to the Kensington & Chelsea district borough. If we had to give a star rating it would be -5. Our advice would be to avoid this hotel at all cost."
