Reviews of Denmark Road Surgery
"Extremely difficult to get an appointment. I call everyday at 8am and after 30 minutes waiting on the phone they tell me to call the next day as there is no appointments available. This goes on for days. Extremely poor service. Not professional at all. They dont even listen to you and they just rush you out of the room. Looking to change my GP ASAP"
"It's next to impossible to get an appointment - apparently they only have 15 a day! You call up at 8am on the dot and are number 18 in the queue and are told to call back again tomorrow... when the same thing happens all over again. I think there are about 3 doctors working there right now - that's 5 appointments each. Appointments are 10 minutes. That's 50 minutes of work. I get that they need to have some appointments free for emergencies and obviously have to do paperwork etc but there's no way that should be taking 7 hours a day. Do these doctors only work half days?! There's no option to book appointments in advance either. You call up at 8am along with dozens of other people, and only the first 15 of you get an appointment. It's completely ridiculous. There is a contact form on their website but they don't respond to it or to emails and you get texts telling you to book appointments via the app but this surgery doesn't have an app. Also, if you do get an appointment, it will be a telephone call and they don't give you any sort of estimation about what time they will call you. Not even a 4 hour timeslot or am/pm - could be any time from about 8:30-18:30. My experience with the doctors and nurses has been good... when I can actually get an appointment."
"Do not use. Waited 37 minutes to make appointment only to get there and wait over 15 minutes to ask how much longer to be told nurse gone home. Furious"
"Absolutely ridiculous trying to get an appointment at this surgery. Are we supposed to be in serious critical condition in order to see a gp?! It defites the whole point of having a gp surgery. They tell you to call at 8am but you will be on the phone bang on 8am through to 9am, then passed 9am they will tell you, you have try again at 8am next day and if you lucky to book an appointment your appointment is scheduled as a phone call in 3-4 weeks, you might as well die waiting. This is my review, I'm definitely changing surgeries, hopping the next one will be better than this one."
"Absolutely useless, and sometimes dangerous. I have been going to this surgery for 20 years and it's just become worse as the years went on. The receptionists are rude, abrasive, and seem to resent being expected to do their jobs. More than once I have waited 10+ minutes in the phone queue only to be hung up on. One receptionist, when I called to complain about the wrong medication being sent to the pharmacist for the third time, gave advice over the phone which would have given me paracetamol poisoning had I followed it. She either couldn't or wouldn't pass me on to a supervisor. When I called back to complain about the danger of nonmedical staff giving advice about medication over the phone I was promised an investigation would be initiated, but never received feedback and saw the same receptionist still working just two days afterwards. The doctors seem uninterested in the patients' wellbeing or comfort, more concerned with getting people in and out despite being behind schedule by up to 2 hours every single time I've been there for 20 years. When I made a noise of pain at an appointment, one doctor told me "it doesn't hurt" and others have missed obvious signs of physical and mental ill health leaving me suffering and untreated for years. The sole exception to this collection of technically-professionals is Dr Olivia Andan, who is also the reason I stayed at the practice for so long. She is kind, attentive, and trusted me to know what was best for myself so we could work together to treat the multiple chronic illnesses her coworkers missed. If not for her, I would have left the surgery long ago and now that I've moved away she is the only part I will miss. Don't go to this surgery, but if you do ensure your appointment is with Dr Andan."
