Reviews of Witham Puppet Festival
"Witham Puppet Festival is an annual September event. This year it was a beautiful warm, sunny day, with so many families and children out enjoying themselves and taking advantage of the wonderful free entertainment. We had puppets, shows and displays starting at the URC Church, right along Newland Street down to the library, then in Newland Shopping Precinct across to the Grove Centre. Loads of characters to see, including Bridie the dancing Tealady, Praying Mantis, The Hulk, Daisy & Buttercup, The Red Queen, Cats' Chorus, the return of Titan the Robot, the Mad Hatter - far too many to mention. There was face painting, competitions, tombola, balloons, a roundabout, bouncy castle, Punch & Judy, ice-cream, cakes and candyfloss - it was a veritable children's delight! Congratulations Witham on providing yet another wonderful free day out - your 20th year of success! Thank you."
"Not as much as previous years, but my youngest thoroughly enjoyed it. This annual event is definitely worth visiting if only to see Titan the robot. The road is shut off between the two shopping centres and the artists perform within the centres and in the high street. Some good performances, but some you need to be away with the fairies to appreciate! I also highly recommend the evening entertainment at the White Hart Pub, which normally have 2 stages setup on scaffolding above the beer garden for non-stop live music which starts after the puppet festival. Kids can stay in the pub garden until 8pm."
