Reviews of BFI Southbank
"Great cinema for classical movies, I have seen A matter of life and death. The venue is very cosy with a bar and for every movie, there is a bulletin with an analysis about why it is appreciated - you can also watch a little video on youtube about what to notice in the movie before seeing it. That way it's easier to appreciate the older movies that might be harder to appreciate for a contemporary audience. Under 25s also get movies for just 3 pounds! There are no ads before the movie so come on time!"
"Came to this classic venue to watch Stray Dog a vintage 1940s Japanese film, screen was good size and seats are not modern but comfortable! Highly recommend to check the film list from BFI. Also Spike Lee was there receiving his fellowship award. Sometimes you bump into special screenings!"
"A proper cinema on the center of London - the screening rooms are clean, with eloquent decoration and design, making any film you’re watching feel like you’re watching a premiere. The lack of fresh popcorn is a bummer but the extensive bar and cafe make up for it. Would definitely recommend."
"My favorite place in London. All kind of arthouse movies, carefully curated. The seating, screens and reception are very nice, especially cleaner than the commercial chains. The ticket price is dirt cheap. Become a member and you can get even more discounts, early booking and viewing plan. If you love filmaking, the BFI is like your visual library, your playground."
"Saw a presentation with the Call The Midwife actors. That was excellent. Security raises questions though as nobody even checked to see if we had tickets. I was quite surprised at that."
