Shaw Wood Academy

"I cannot recommend Shaw Wood enough. The first time I visited the school to see if it was suitable for my daughter, I knew instantly that this is where I wanted my children to be educated, and they have not disappointed. The staff are professional but friendly, they are encouraging, determined and considerate of all the individual children and their needs (whatever their gender, religion, ethnic or socio-economic background). I have never had a bad word to say about the school, and I still don't. Recent negative attention, caused by one dinner lady who is no longer employed at the school, has only served to prove to all the staff and parents at Shaw Wood, that the Head and the Board of Governors only have the pupil's best interests at heart. Their swift action in regards to making the children's safety their number 1 priority shows the real ethos of the school, and is a true representation of how the school operates. My husband and I now have 3 children attending here, and they will continue to flourish here until they proceed to secondary school. Keep going Shaw Wood, you are doing amazing!"

"I can’t fault the school, it doesn’t deserve the negativity being shown over the comments of 1 Dinner lady not reacher, who now no longer works there, the school has dealt with what happened swiftly and the head teacher should be praised for how she has handled everything. The children are extremely well looked after and happy in this school. The children’s safety is their number 1 priority. You can not blame the school for 1 persons comment"

"My children have been attending this school for 10 years now & I could not fault anything about Shaw Wood Academy. It has received a lot of bad press over the last few days which is all from one comment a dinner lady made. The school have handled this situation perfectly. They’ve acted quickly & efficiently in dealing with this member of staff & making sure the children’s safety remained there priority. I have another child starting school next September & I wouldn’t think twice about sending her here. The school is at no fault whatsoever for what’s recently happened & don’t deserve all the bad reviews over one individual. One persons comments DOES NOT represent a full schools staff & the local community"

"A dinner lady recently made some negative comments about the NZ attacks. This was in no way connected to the school, this was her own private opinion and one for which she has suffered. The school, police and other agencies have dealt with this immediately and the staff member is now not in their employment. These comments were not made by, or indeed the opinion of the school in any way. I have had all four of my children in this school for 11 years altogether. Never once have they let me or my children down. They are a great school which is reflected in their Ofsted report. I wholeheartedly support shaw wood and can only applaud them on their fast actions and discretion during a tough, challenging time. Highly recommend shaw wood for a primary school choice, it is inclusive of everyone and works very hard with families in our community. More importantly the children are happy, well educated And cared for. No brainer really."

"Absolutely appalling that someone that works with children is happy and gloating about the death of innocent children, women and men. It would be a huge shame if this vile person was allowed to continue working in a educational establishment. Are these the disgusting views the poor children at this school will be subject to? Can you imagine how this vile woman would treat kids of a certain race/religion!? Because she clearly has a lot of hatred to gloat about a mass killing. The school needs to take immediate action.
