"We had a very pleasant stay here with our 2 kids and dog. Dog was made to feel very welcome, even to the extent of a bowl of Sausages for breakfast. Lovely grounds that he enjoyed running round. The kids loved the swimming pool, with dedicated kids swimming times. The breakfast was delicious and main reception and dining areas were very attractive."
"Hotel was ok, the way to the rooms could have been labelled better. Spa was small with lots of children in there, however the treatments were amazing & very relaxing. Evening meal was very standard & there could have been more choice of cocktails. Staff were lovely & present."
"Went for a spa day and afternoon tea lovely place and could not fault the staff and their service only fault I found was the disabled toilets were in the next block so I had to go outside of the main building and walk around ro the next building to use the bathroom. Not ideal and not accessible at all. I appreciate it is an old building but it does need looking at."
"Beautiful hotel - original part of building is listed, well looked after & gorgeously appointed - marble columns, wooden panelling, beautiful fire places, leaded stained glass windows and ornately painted coffered ceilings - all kept immaculately clean. Lovely location overlooking grounds & lakes (Nice local walks). Good parking. From our arrival all the staff were welcoming, friendly, professional & courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was standard hotel set up but nicely appointed, secure & clean with TV, tea/coffee facilities, wardrobe (with safe, iron/iron board &, whilst not loads of storage for clothes, there was sufficient for a few days stay) ,table/dresser with upright chair, and comfy easy chairs & small table. The bathroom comprised toilet, bath with shower over & screen, bidet, wash basin, heated towel rail & large shelf - well stocked including soap & shower gel along with thick, fluffy white towels. (The only gripe - lavatory seat fixing was rather loose. A surprise given how well looked after everything else was! We mentioned it on leaving & was assured it would be fixed). Beds were comfortable, window allowed good ventilation and the place stayed warm even though we didn't use the room heater despite it being November. Food in both the bar & conservatory restaurant was lovely - beautifully cooked & well presented, though a little pricey even for so lovely a place - the restaurant had great views over the well-kept gardens too. Breakfasts were really nice & part menu, part self-serve meant no worries on choice or portion sizes. At the weekend it was all self-serve but still beautifully cooked, and every day there was lots of choice. The spa facilities were small but again nicely appointed, kept clean & everything was working well. Changing rooms had the usual facilities & were kept pristine. We used the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room & showers. Fresh drinking water facilities are a bit of a trek upstairs to reception - a water cooler with single use cups would have been nice closer to the pool. Sadly there are a lot of stairs down to the pool area so I imagine disabled or physically limited folks may not be able to get to those spa facilities - contact beforehand would be advised. I was lucky enough to be treated to a most relaxing massage carried out by a professional & friendly lady who listened to what I wanted & delivered just what I needed using lovely products. Afterwards a sojourn in the quiet room, resting on a really comfy seat with cushions & adjoining footstool with relaxing music & fresh lemon flavoured water facilities finished the experience beautifully. As there is a lift to the floor where treatments take place these would be more accessible I would think. All in all we had a really relaxing & pleasant long weekend break in gorgeous surroundings where we were well looked after. We'd be more than happy to visit again."
"**DO NOT BOOK** If i could leave zero stars I would We booked a Spa hen party for 10 people for my mum. This included 2 course lunch, treatment and use of the facilities. The 2 course lunch consisted of a sandwich with either a starter or dessert, not a hot lunch as we were advised. Both the pool and jacuzzi were out of order due to high chlorine levels. The treatments that we had already paid the deposit for were only booked for 8 people, not 10. Due to them running late with other customers only 2 of our party received a treatment and everyone else were cancelled. There was no phone call to advise of the facilities and no one had even come to tell us whilst we were having lunch. Some members of our party had travelled over 2 hours for this. Overall it was an absolute shambles and completely ruined the day. We were told that we would have a full refund, however nearly 3 weeks later this has still not been actioned. Several emails all ignored, messages left with reception and still no call back.....avoid at all costs"
