"One of the worst colleges I ever went to!!!! My experience with Nelson and Colne college was awful that I had from both staff and students...... I was treated very rudely by the staff!!!!! It is rare for me to give a one star rating, but after the experience I had I was left no choice. I don't trust this place as it upset me so so much and I won't ever be coming back. I never want to come back to this college ever again!!!! Wouldn't recommend this place as I don't think they have the training they need, They are definitely not as good as they say they are."
"Spent 3 years here, 1 year on the wrong course, transferred programmes and completed level 3 art and design btec. Didn't expect to spend so much time talking to people about different cultures and techniques along the way but had an absolute blast doing it. I've stuck to my mismatched research and the hobby and learned a bit about time management which also helped me land my dream job at McDonald's. The irony of life. Could've gone to uni but turned it down many times as I'm happy with where ny lifes at now. It was fun arguing my way through most of the course to but I got many great experiences from this place and the courage to break out of my shell . A thing no one could teach or get me to do throughout primary and high school Whilst I was here, a hit a very dark patch with my anorexia. Id go as much as half to a full week without eating. As a result I would collapse a lot in and outside of college. I was pulled into a meeting unplanned in the office with the head of department, Sarah, and my textile teacher Simone. There were lots of tears. There was a lot going on at home and with my friends and I didn't know who to talk to. I knew I was behind with work and would put off eating to work and research more. My body became accustomed to this and switched off from hunger pains and my brain stopped registering whether I'd eaten or not. Which didn't help the situation . However. Once that discussion had occurred they arranged so I had a small spot for food which they paid for themselves . I will never forget that. They didn't ask if I'd eaten. If it was mentioned at all it was maybe once a week. It can be a bad trigger for me. However their kindness and support was the beginning to me getting better. I've been trying to get help from the doctors for years to no avail. I'm slowly being able to eat takeaways again. I can't eat fully but. You can't put a price or even a review on some of the teachers and the support they offer. Some of them go out and above their job roles. And that support sticks with you for life. I used to stay in the studio rooms way beyond school hours. With my sleep pattern being a wreck I couldn't always make it to class. I did have days where I had sleep paralysis and was bed bound. I had days where I'd had a seizure with my epilepsy and couldn't go in for that. I got into lots of trouble. But knowing I had the studio space. There were a few who became used to me being there even though they didn't teach me and would purposefully stay behind themselves to mark rather than doing it at home just so I could use the studio space. To me it was a safe place. Aside from the days my own anxiety got the better of me. Everyones experience is different. But for me It was more than just a college experience."
