Reviews of PIANO WEEK International Festival & Summer School
"This was my first experience of Piano Week which took place at Rugby School and what a wonderful experience it was. The opportunity to receive personal tuition from an amazing group of teachers went well beyond my expectations and has deepened my enthusiasm to develop my piano playing. Besides the one-to-one tuition, there were courses in jazz and composition, how to practice, memorisation and sight reading. There was also the opportunity to play in informal concerts, something which I hadn’t done for thirty years but I grew more confident as the week went on and really enjoyed this part of the course. Another highlight for me was a master class with the renowned Professor Leslie Howard, what an amazing opportunity! And then there were the recitals by the faculty, virtuoso piano playing in beautiful settings! Piano week offers an opportunity to people of all standards of piano playing. On our course, there were some very talented young people but also adults at various stages of their piano journey. Whatever stage you’re at, Piano Week will offer you an experience that will help you! Finally, the piano facilities at Rugby School were first class with an amazing array of pianos and particularly the Steinway grands. Thank you to the faculty and thank you to my fellow students. It was a great week!"
"I just came back from Rugby after a fabulous week of piano, jazz, and other music lessons with world class teachers and lovely participants. Amazing recitals in the evening. I highly recommend it for anyone addicted to piano."
"I have joined similar events in US before but The Piano Week was by far the best one. I was blown away by the intensity of the program as well as the quality of the teachers. It was as though I was in the venerable Wigmore Hall and taking lessons from the performers. I learned a lot and feel eager to incorporate the learnings in my practice at home. I will be back again next year."
"Piano Week in December 2020 was a wonderful experience. I am a piano/music novice with just over a year experience and as an adult learner, I wanted an experience with first rate teachers in a comfortable environment to gauge where I was and how to move forward. Piano Week exceeded every expectation. I was able to work on a variety of pieces and accomplished several "firsts" - performing in front of others (virtually), composing, improvisation, while also getting wonderful coaching on how to polish a piece, how to start a piece, technical exercises, organizing practice time, etc. I walked away inspired by the quality of the teachers and grateful they were able to connect with a novice player, pick me up where I was and give me some tools to move forward! Wonderful chance to get focused exposure to world class musicians and teachers. I took the class remotely from the comfort of home but the logistics and attention to detail were very professional! Wonderful professional staff, great participants - highly recommended!"
"Having been to Piano Week twice now I absolutely loved every single experience. No matter what your goal is, PW got something to offer and tailor around your needs, such as composition, performance, technical aspect and many more. As a conservatoire student my main focus is to improve my recital repertoire. As a result, every time I go back I go for lessons with the outstanding faculty and take part in as many performance opportunities as possible (roughly 3/4 times throughout the week). I find the performance space very enjoyable and it definitely help with confidence building in an extremely friendly and supportive environment. On top of that, is great to see how everyone can progress so much throughout the week under the guidance of highly experienced pianists!"
