"Hattie is fabulous - we had a lovely tasting here and her knowledge is incredible. If you're looking for reasonably priced wine but with impeccable background to the wine too then look no further"
"Good afternoon everyone, I am a sommelier since long time now, and I am very disappointed/nervous about what I am close to say. I went to this wine bar/shop in Clapham Junction the Nysa, I met the person in charge at the time and I was going to open a chateau musar 1998… I went in the shop and I asked twice if I was able to enjoy this lovely bottle in the store ( I’ve been asking twice if I was in the right to open and enjoy this bottle).. the miss said to me that was absolutely great as far I couldn’t finish the bottle before closing time. She gave to me a taste of a lovely white wine from Switzerland, after this lovely testing I paid my bottle and she provided to me a simple bottle opener and she said to me good luck! ( she did not change my wine glasses and not even let me clean them before wish me a lovely luck to open a bottle of 1998 with a simple bottle opener). As we know with certain vintages we need a corkscrew to be able to assist and remove the cork, plus a small decanter to give some oxygen/air to the wine before enjoying it. I went back to her and ask for a corkscrew as the normal wine opener couldn’t get the job done, and I’ve been told that this kind of bottle aren’t supposed to be open on the building. After this incredible news as left me over with half cork smashed on the table and half in the bottle I just tried as smooth as I could to get the cork out of the bottle… unfortunately as everyone could immagine the cork just smashed it and went inside the bottle. I never seen any place were a customer bought a bottle of wine and been left with a bottle opener in his hand with dirty glasses and the best wishes to open it by him self wow! You should absolutely provide the right service and you should definitely open for the customer and let him enjoy the lovely wines he just bought( get the right time of oxygenation/ right and clean glasses/ small explanation regarding grapes and story of the winery and why this wine is known as it, this is what is it required as Minimum to do at my work place…plus we have test to keep our knowledges up as much as we can, but unfortunately looks like isn’t like that everywhere!) was amazing to see the book of the WSET level 3 on the table, the lovely coravin pro on the table… I just paid for a bottle that I couldn’t enjoy, left full on the table and not even been refunded or found any solution to cover this mess up! Plus as I left she didn’t even apologies or ask if we had a good experience about the service and the wine. You need to improve your human and wine skills, I’ve been left with some money and a bottle down, I couldn’t drink a glass of the bottle I bought, I couldn’t get a fresh glass to enjoy this bottle and I had to get the service by my self with out any tools to get it done! This is unacceptable, i really want my money back and forget about all this experience! I still not believe that they took my money and I was not able to get a sip of my wine! This for people like me who spent a lot of time investing in wine studies it’s absolutely horrible and left me shocked. You should get passion and love first in what you doing."
"I went there with my boyfriend for the second time. Since the first time the gentleman was really kind we went there for a second time. We asked to the blond lady if we had still time to drink some wine and she said that we had 10 minutes. She offered us a glass of white wine to taste, and we purchased a Lebanese chateau Murat from 1989 to drink in there. We asked few times in advance if we could drink that specific bottle in there and she said yes. She GAVE US the bottle opener and she did not pay attention to us anymore neither changing us the glasses. Obviously the bottle opener was not the correct one since the cork started to breaking due to the age. My boyfriend kindly asked to have a proper bottle opener and she said they don’t have it since they usually don’t open this bottle in there. She spent all the time with another couple and even when they left, she did her business, leaving us alone and not even turning herself to say goodbye. I am very disappointed because I saw the book of level 3 on her table, and I expected at least from a competent person of that level to be honest and say in advance that she had not the right tools to open the bottle, since we clearly ask before few times. She appeared to me not polite because first of all we were customer and then not competent and honest at all. She didn’t even apologise for her mistake neither offering refund or any solution, just leaving us with a not drinkable wine on the table. It’s a shame because the place is really nice and even because we received a very good service last time. As you all could understand we were left abandoned and we were not able at all to drink the paid wine due to the broken cork inside. Due to the poor customer service we will never go in this place anymore."
"Lovely service all the time! From everyone that works there. We live just down the road and it’s our favourite place to go. The staff are always great with suggestions no matter what kind of budget. We always get the £11-15 range and always get wonderful service :) if you’re looking for a place to buy wine go here and support a wonderful independent."
