Reviews of Erdington Academy
"25 reasons why u shouldn't come to this school - read this babe, I had 5 years of bad experience here (couldn't get a place in the other schools nearby) 1. Male teachers having female students numbers 2. Alcohol (some teachers bring it in), drug dealing (mostly cannabis), knife crime 3. Vaping, smoking, cigarettes (on the playground too) 4. Classrooms & toilets are not cleaned properly (ppl get norovirus) 5. Food in this school is nasty & they can't cook - for example, extreme grease & no flavour (u will get heartburn / food poisoning) 6. Staff flirting with students 7. Staff wearing inappropriate clothing including neon pink skin tight mini dresses 8. U can't trust anyone in this place, even the teachers are snakey 9. Staff claim that cameras don't work when students get knocked unconscious inside buildings / outside 10. Seems nice when u start year 7 then throughout the years you'll slowly start to realise this is a dangerous, unsafe place 11. Violence & all the other bad things that happen here is so normalised 12. Toxic / psychotic / friends (Gaslighting, blackmailing) 13. All types of bullying & harassment at this place 14. Extreme peer pressure 15. Mostly supply teachers who tell u to copy out paragraphs from a textbook onto lined paper 16. Some staff are racist & some teachers never help students who need help on their work 17. U will end up having depression & feeling suicidal every now & then at this place (no wonder why many ppl drop out) 18. Ambulances & police are in & out of this school (every week) 19. Only white students are allowed to come in wearing inappropriate mini skirts & have unnatural coloured hair (Anybody else will get put in isolation) 20. Girls sitting on boys laps, there are boyfriends & girlfriends kissing & flirting in class & outside 21. Heating is never on in the winter & is always on in the summer 22. Students are not even allowed to put their coats on in class (many ppl get hypothermia) 23. One teacher talks about sex & drinks called p***y & how women's body changes after pregnancy 24. Some teachers swearing a lot in lessons 25. There is a million more things I can mention but that would be too exhausting so just please don't come to this skl if u want a good education! Most ppl who leave here end up having to do level 1 / 2 at college - should be level 3 - students are not taught all the topics they need to know for exams!!!"
"This school is good but I see the comment about the rules is hard and difficult that because the students don't have some respect and in this year the school have a new rules hard then before because fight between the students."
"The school is not good. The punishment are bad, if you don't have a tie or you forgot a piece of uniform for just a day you have to miss your break time and lunch times until you fix you uniform. Furthermore, the food is really unseasoned there is no salt in their pasta's and they are really unseasoned"
"This school is absolutely appalling. From the poor teaching to the disgusting food, there’s no possible way to express my hatred enough. The school rules are absolutely ridiculous. Why is a child unable to use toilets during and in between lessons without a medical pass? This issue is particularly impacting females, the staff however are able to take breaks during lesson which is unacceptable. As for the teaching some teachers are very unprofessional, during inspections they behave differently whereas usually they don’t properly carry out their jobs. This ranges from false information, inappropriate comments and simply reading from slides and using text books without passion that is required to intrigue a child into further learning. During breaks there are two separate canteens. These canteens were said to have supposedly improved since their previous disgusting food and atmosphere. However, the changes made were futile. The food is just as bad if not worse than what it was before, the canteen which is referred to as the “Hot Deli” looks exactly the same only with a different sign, and many children get sick after eating the food. The food options include chicken wings, sausage rolls, pizza slices, hash browns, pains au chocolat, jacket potatoes and the cold food includes baguettes and sandwiches. Everyone must agree all children deserve hot food to eat, so let’s focus on that. The wings for starters are under cooked improperly seasoned and tastes disgusting. The bright pink meat tastes appalling and is inedible as well as the sausage rolls which are also under done. Pizzas are always too oily or burnt, also being too thin half the time. How is any of this healthy? Adding a fruit pot to eat won’t justify having more oil than Saudi Arabia in that disgusting trash you call food. Despite the separate lunch times from the year groups the queues still haven’t reduced. Many children including those suffering from asthma have to run if they even want to consider eating, the worst part is they don’t even get something nice or filling. Another issue is the prices: most food costs double of what it should. Most students don’t eat breakfast in the morning due to rushing to get in on time. This means they are hungry all day and some can’t even afford to eat properly. Now as for ATTENDANCE! The attendance staff are ruthless, heartless and merciless. A child can’t help but to be ill sometimes due to severe medical issues and weak immune systems etc. This means they are physically unable to attend the school, therefore they should be allowed to take days off to ensure the contagious illnesses they have don’t spread amongst other students. For this school it isn’t the case, if a child has vomited or had stomach aches etc. Here they are still obligated to attend the same day. Now as many of you are aware bus times can vary; this means that students can tend to be late sometimes and in other instances there can be roadworks or an accident. This means that even if a child leaves half an hour earlier than usual they can still be late and therefore should be cut some slack. If someone has a valid reason then a “correction” (new term for detention) isn’t necessary to be put into place. Here’s another issue amongst hundreds more where I could carry on, when a child is wearing improper uniform or is missing a planner the sanctions in place are too harsh, if a student is missing a tie for example or a planner they are isolated for the day. This means they are secluded on their own looking only at a wall all day where they aren’t taught and only given worksheets. Other problems with being late is that despite the weather, whether it’s pouring rain, heaving snow or even a blizzard all children who are late must stand outside during the whole of form time. To conclude I would like to say that this school is much worse than I thought and regret attending it wasting and ruining 5 years of my life. In a place where you are being taught by a technician for a year instead of actual teachers. I would give 0 stars if I could because this is DISGRACEFUL."
