"This is an absolute gem of a place to visit. My partner and I went today with my assistance dog. The dog was welcomed in, and several people made a fuss of him. The staff on the gate were lovely as was every member of staff we spoke to. Our dog actually made friends with Fergus the monk Jack deer through the fence. Fergus came out of his way to see what the black furry thing was the other side of the fence and the two just sniffed and looked at each other. (Don’t worry, had the dog been causing any anxiety to any of the animals we would have walked him away from them, we had stopped down the side of the wallabies where there were no animals close by, and the deer actually came to us from the other side of the hill). The farm really has something for everything. For a small added cost there is crazy golf, pony rides and more. The cafe was lovley, best flapjack I’ve ever had, no lies. If you go you MUST try the flapjack! I stroked and fed an alpaca for the first time ever, which when you’ve loved them for ten years is a big thing. The playground was amazing, the enchanted one at the back. We loved the design using trees. We spent around two hours there and it was amazing. I’ll definitely be back and in looking into adopting one of the animals. When I make my mind up which."
"I went to Matlock Farm Park last week with my family and a couple of friends who have a baby. It’s safe to say that we all had a wonderful time! There is plenty to see and do (for all ages) including things like sheep racing to crazy golf. There are some bits that you’ll need a bit of extra cash for but you can still have a great day out if you wanted to miss these bits. On entry you can purchase a bag of food for £1 so as you are walking around the park you can feed the animals. I’d probably recommend buying one more bag as there is plenty of animals to see. We got half way round before we ran out of food. I highly recommend the play areas, kids can play with pebbles and sand, on the climbing frames, slides and swings… even saw a ‘mud’ kitchen. It was a really lovely area and much of it was undercover so great if it rained. Plenty of seating for families in this area as well as a little food stand for buying drinks and nibbles. There are plenty of other facilities on the park like toilets, cafes, food stands and a gift shop. There is also places near the cafe where you can ‘park up’ any pushchairs/ prams you have with you as these are not allowed in the cafe etc."
"Wonderful place. Lots of options for food and plenty of space to see the animals even when the car parks are quite busy. Plenty to do and see for the kids and very friendly and helpful staff. All set in an idyllic situation in the countryside. Would highly recommend as a family day out"
"Lovely place to visit especially with kids. We have been a few times now and can see lots of improvements. The toilet upgrade was a good choice, not sure x2 cubicles are enough though. Fast entry at a great price but found the animal feed a little small for £1. They also have new food trucks although very expensive £8 for a bacon cheeseburger. We didn't have time to make a picnic as was off the cuff visit. Plenty of seats/benches. Good variety of animals to see and feed they also seem looked after. The shop could maybe be a little bigger and have more choice of products/toys. Overall loved our visit and without a doubt we will be returning."
"We visited to see Father Christmas and it was a magical experience for the kids, they loved it. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side and it was very foggy so we didn't walk round all of the farm. Instead we headed to the indoor play area with the cafe, the kids also loved that. Only downside is there isn't enough seating for families in there and the cafe is expensive for what they sell - I'd recommend packing a lunch instead. We will go back when the weather is better though. All the animals seemed very well looked after and they had lots of space. We bought some food to feed them. Could do with adding parking lines in the car park too as some unthoughtful person blocked 2 of us in disregarding the fact we need space to open the car doors to get the kids back in. Will return again though."
