Reviews of Shakespeare North Playhouse
"First outing to the Playhouse North to see A Christmas Carol and it was so good - very funny. Really well organised venue and staff were really friendly and helpful. We had lunch in the cafe before the performance. Great value for money £7.50 for a sandwich salad and crisps - great portion sizes!! Great parking nearby with blue badge parking. Venue fairly accessible, except for some seating areas that have steps down. Some of the seating may be uncomfortable if you don’t have long legs or like a back rest - they feel more like perching stools than chairs. Definitely looking for more events to go again."
"Oh my. We are so lucky to have this. We saw A Christmas Carol, which was brilliantly done by a young cast of four. The theatre is just amazing. Now on my mailing list to go again. Lots of times. Use it or lose it."
"First time here, very nice new theatre in the style of an Elizabethan (1) theatre. Outside areas,1st floor waiting and bar area needs attention already some edging is coming away. All the doors need a good wipe down especially the toilets. The performance was due to start at 19.00 (it did) but the 1st floor bar only opened at 1830, missed opportunity to get some sales if it opened earlier. The actual auditorium is small and intimate you really feel part of the show. The seating is benches, with cushions, but only the rear rows have backs to the benches. I know it's early days but please keep on top of the maintenance and cleaning and maybe review the opening times of the food/ drink outlets."
"New theatre opened in Prescot on Saturday. Recreated as copy of the famous Globe theatre and built on top of the foundations of the original 16th century Elizabethan theatre. Fabulous wooden stage and seating in main building plus 2 outdoor performance areas. Will produce mixture of Shakespearean plays and modern theatre. Cafe and bar in main theatre. Lots of places to eat and drink in adjacent Prescot high street. Bus stops outside theatre and Prescot railway station is only 10-15 minutes walk away see"
"How fantastic to have a Shakespeare playhouse for the North. Visited last night to see Johnny Vegas in conversation. I have the programme for this autumn and will be going back for sure. Well done to everyone involved in bringing this to fruition. Hopefully this will only bring good things to the area as time goes by. Lucky Prescot!"
