Reviews of Lightbox
"I would give zero stars if that was an option. Probably one of the WORST if not, the worst customer service I have ever received in my life. Nobody here gives a flying toss about any of the tenants concerns of queries. if you want to freeze to death due to the heating never working, not to mention the water is cold 24/7 this is the place for you! Awful, rude staff not to mention the even ruder lady who takes the phone calls for this joke of a place. Avoid at all costs."
"There is literally one washing machine working in the entire building and the lift has stopped working (which it does on a regular basis) there is no communal area or cinema room like promised and everything is cheaply made. The building looks a right state so many things left undone! (You’ve had like 2 years, surely it’s not that hard?) I don’t know how the people who Manage this building can live with themselves . This is peoples lives and homes."
"Awful building. My room is always cold, the boiler is always going out, washing machines never working. Was originally a problem with wifi which they fixed but took them a while to do that. Communication from noble city living is awful. Do better, people live here."
"I would describe Noble City Living / Noble Design and Build as rude, incompetent and slightly sociopathic people with zero moral and ethical compass, who deliberately ignore queries from paying tenants. They have been persecuted before and should not be allowed to do business on any level. (Review for Lightbox building, run and owned by Noble City Living) Quick! Better read this before Noble City Living deletes the entire page again.. There used to be a different page for the Lightbox building, but Noble deleted it because it had 7 reviews, ALL OF THEM 1-STAR. Noble Design and Build are a family business owned by Gary Ata and run by his daughter Jade Ata. Jade Ata who is the Sales and Lettings Director of Noble City Living based in Sheffield (a sister company of Noble Design and Build) is literally the worst lettings agent I have ever dealt with. I have found her to be incompetent, rude, and has previously ceased all communication with me! When I politely asked her to read an email I sent, she replied with; "I don’t have time to go back and forth it’s basic info if you want o wait til I’m back in that’s entirely up to you... I won’t keep going back and forth! You may have time I don’t I have a business to run". This in my opinion sums up the company's approach to customer care.. Noble defaulted on a flat that I signed for, and let me know only 11 DAYS BEFORE I WAS DUE TO MOVE IN, that I couldn't have it. Because of this, I had to accept a ground floor flat with no window overlooking a car park. There is very little privacy, I always have the blinds down. Since then, over the last 5 months, Noble has cost me a great deal of time, mental energy, AND MONEY trying to move out. In my contract, there is a cancellation clause which states that a tenant can terminate their contract early if a replacement tenant is found. Noble have done very little, next to nothing to facilitate this contractual right that I as a paying tenant have. Because of this, I am now having to pay for a solicitor to act on my behalf. After a letter was sent from my solicitor to them, they still didn't respond! Noble Design and Build have actually been prosecuted before, so it’s not surprising that they see themselves as above the law. My overall experience of communicating with this company has been incredibly frustrating. Staff never reply to emails with their name, so it’s impossible to know who you are speaking to. Communication is infrequent and not sufficient. Questions are also often left unanswered. Tenants are not seen as people to this company, once they have your money they don’t care. There were also continual intermittent hot water issues, partly because they have to ship materials from abroad which power their biomass boilers. The maintenance staff at Lightbox seem perfectly pleasant and helpful, so lower down in the company there are some decent people. But overall, this is a company to be avoided like the plague. I would describe this company as sociopathic to be honest. I would rather be paying £800 PCM plus bills than live at Lightbox for less with all bills included. These flats may look fancy and plush, but they are small with very little storage space, even for one person. Every staff member I have spoken to has shared my concerns regarding the running of this company, and the lack of sufficient communication and quite frankly people skills. In short… STAY WELL AWAY FROM NOBLE CITY LIVING AND NOBLE DESING AND BUILD!!"
"REPOSTING AFTER THEY DELTED THEIR LAST GOOGLE REVIEWS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! By far my worst experience of renting a property in my four years in Sheffield. I was a tenant here between June 2021 to June 2022. To start this off, after moving out, I was contacted by Jade Ata, 2 months later, threatening me with a CCJ saying I had not yet vacated my apartment, and owed significant rental costs. After investigating this further, it turned out that I was being charged a £60 move out cost for supposed damage I had caused to the window restrictor. When I sent Jade the video I had taken of the apartment on the day I had moved out, showing the window in full working order, her email account must have stopped working. Maybe she must have got the wrong apartment. To start this off, when I first moved in, I was completely messed about with moving in times and key collection, chasing up getting my contract signed and returned from them as close as 48 hours before key collection, as well as a microwave and TV missing from my apartment. I had to book an appointment in the middle of the day and use up annual leave with only two days notice, and when I turned up nobody was there to greet me, suddenly Jade’s phone didn’t answer my calls. At this point, I thought I’d been scammed but luckily a Maintenance member happened to see me outside and came to help me and direct me to the one agent inside who could help. No communication seemed to be a common theme throughout my year at Lightbox, with no responses to emails, no help provided. I had a missing parcel as for the first three months they were just openly left in the lobby, no money back as the parcel was photographed at the location, and then the underground car parking door stopped working for 2 weeks, as well as my car parking fob. After contacting and getting no response, I was having to park outside, therefore not getting much value of the £100 monthly car park fee, and to make matters worse, received a parking fine on top of this from Sheffield City Council. When contacting Lightbox to enquire if they’d cover the fine, seeing as they were the cause of it, they then finally fixed the door and the fob. Still waiting on the money though. The rooms are okay and fairly new, but most things don’t work in the building, such as washers and dryers that don’t clean clothes properly, cold water for your morning shower, and knackered gym equipment with a broken door. Most public space floors got cleaned about once every 3 months, which was a delight regularly walking up the stairs over a mouldy McDonald’s chip. Oh, and the WiFi consistently cut out, which was great when you’re trying to work from home on teams calls. One positive was the two maintenance men and night security who were absolutely lovely, and couldn’t be more helpful. At times, they looked embarrassed by the actions of other staff members. All in all, for around £650+ a month, it really isn’t worth it, and that figure doesn’t include council tax like they say it does! So add another £100 a month on top, as well as another £100 if you want parking. Don’t waste your time here, plenty of better and more reliable places to stop across Sheffield, with much better value and customer service."
