Reviews of Park Hill Flats
"Iconic flats, mostly now refurbished. You may recognise them from various films over the years. Looming presence over the city. Not shy. Modern classic."
"On the 13th of August 2019, I went there with my class and we went to the top floor to enjoy the view of the entire city of Sheffield. The compound is famous for being so big and in one of the highest areas in the city. There are more than 1000 houses other than offices. Park Hill has a very nice view of the entire city. The place seems luxurious one. I liked the glass lift. On the other hand, I didn't like the idea of putting the corridor on the view. People at their offices and houses would like to see the view from wherever they are. Why do they have to get out of their houses to enjoy the view? Personally, I think it's neither worth visiting nor a nice place to live in. I really don't suggest coming if you are afraid of heights, someone had an unpleasant time :)"
"I went to Park Hill with my classmates and my teachers. Park Hill is famous because it has history and is colorful and beautiful. When we went to it, we went up and looked landscape which can be seen from it. We took a lot of photos. Good thing is very beautiful about it. It is big and colorful. So many people live in it. Many years ago, " I like you, will U marry me? " was written here. It is near the Sheffield station. So it is easy for people who live in it to go to somewhere. There are many bugs, for example, bee, mosquito and so on. I don't like them. So if I have lived in it, I would clear it of them. It is a great place in Sheffield, therefore, I recommend people to live in it and it is suitable for person who likes height, landscape and history and doesn't mind that there are many bugs."
"I went to Park Hill on Tuesday. I saw appearances and aisle of this building. It is changing. It is changing from old to new. Its appearance is colourful and beautiful. It’s being modernized. In addition to, if you go up to floor, you can see beautiful scenery of Sheffield. One of interesting things is graffiti. It says “I love you. Will U marry me?” It is romantic. However, it has bad things. One of them is openness. We can see inside of rooms because the windows of this building are very big. Residents can’t do things near the windows. Rooms isn’t big. Many British people have big body. Therefore, you may feel cramped. I don’t recommend this building for living. You should choose the room by thinking how comfort it is, not by how beautiful it is. However, you can go to CityCentre easily from this building. If you want to go CityCentre frequently, this building is good for you."
"Previously a site of back to back houses, the current brutalist construction was completed in 1961 as affordable housing. There is an exhibition about it in Weston Park Museum. The council moved tenants into the flats near their neighbours from the houses there before to maintain the sense of community. Although it was listed as Grade II in 1998, many people have low opinions of the buildings due to their state of apparent disrepair and neglect. The new renovations by Urban Splash are set to be finished in 2022. They stripped and rebuilt much of the building, cladding it in the iconic red, orange and yellow. There is commercial space on the ground floor and a new park near the railway station too."
