"Your Piccadilly Branch, Manchester!!!! Just over an hour ago, I spoke to a red headed chap who was at the one & only counter (!) that is not self service. He proceeded to tell me to use the self service tills. I told him I had problems with my eyes so he then pointed out an assistant to me. She did the transaction but as I was leaving I noticed that she had charged me for an extra madeira cake (£2.00). She then took the receipt to the red headed chap whom I presume was the manager & they sorted out the refund. However, I asked her VERY POLITELY why she had not apologised for her error. She looked at me blankly and I repeated my question again smiling very politely. I pointed out that had I walked out and realised the mistake later I would have had no proof of the mistake she had made. She tuen apologised & I smiled at her, accepted the apology and was about to walk out when said red headed chap decided to wade in to show, presumably, his manly support of his staff by saying it was a mistake!! Of course it was a mistake but she was grown up enough to have known to automatically apologise but didn't. Red headed male version of a 'Karen' then proceeded to tell me I was being aggressive. I asked him if I had raised my voice at her, he said I had not however it was in my TONE - apparently!! So the lesson of today is....... no matter how calm & pleasantly you point out a mistake, you, the customer, will be to blame. Is this the right way to train your Managers, Marks & Spencer????"
