"Having dined here previously for Sunday Lunch and being very impressed, we decided to book again for lunch on Sunday 22 Jan 23. Big mistake, what a letdown!! First of all the tables have changed from reasonable size dining tables to what what can only be described as little more than coffee tables, which made it very uncomfortable to eat lunch. There were 3 of us seated for lunch , with barely enough room for dinner plates and glasses, leaving virtually no room for anything else, dread to,think how 4 of us would have fitted round the table. Previous lunches have been amazing, tasty and plentiful. Not this time unfortunately? I ordered the “Roast Beef” , I’m sorry it was not roast beef served but STEAK, which at best was bland and tough. Gravy was watery, and not a lot of taste. Roast potatoes were soggy, as were the vegetables. Everything on the plate was cold!! I returned the dinner, only for it to come back, having been heated in the microwave!! Portion sizes disappointing, with just 3 roast potatoes, 1 carrot and a tablespoon of cabbage. Obviously I did not eat my dinner and left hungry, declining to stay for dessert. Both my friends ordered the Pork, and whilst they said it was tasty, they also said the rest of the food was bland. Service was also hit and miss, and whilst the waiting staff were pleasant, service was slow, with dirty plates left for a long period of time before being cleared away. We had hoped that this would be our go to place for a tasty Sunday lunch and have mentioned it to a number of friends but unfortunately , we definitely will not be back and will not be recommending it to friends and family."
"The building looks fairly recently decorated and looks great. Staff were friendly and the starters were amazing. The roast was alright. Due to the open nature of the kitchen we could unfortunately hear staff arguing at certain points during the meal I would argue with their description of "proper gravy" on the menu though as to me that means a very thick gravy rather than what we got (see photo)"
"Beautiful venue, lovely decor. Sadly, the service was not great. We went as a party of 10 people and were asked to pre-order our food (2 weeks prior to the event) and somehow they still managed to forget two of the meals. If it has been busy I would have been more understanding, but the place was empty and there was no apology offered when two members of the party did not receive their meals. They then brought their food as we were all leaving (we had told them not to bother making it when they admitted they had forgotten). The attitude of the management staff on shift that day was poor. No apology was offered, and instead the interactions was just awkward with aggressive facial expressions. The wait staff however were kind and apologetic and we appreciated them as they were still trying their best to accommodate us. I understand that these things happen, but the food was also delivered cold and the burger was not worth the price tag. I definitely wouldn't go back for food, or plan an event there, but the ambience is nice enough for a drink after work."
"Nice place and pleasant staff, unusually for me I chose roast pork, the veg, roasts, gravy, Yorkshire puds and crackling were really good, but the belly of pork was ridiculously tough and I could only cut from the edges. Maybe I was unlucky, so I would definitely try their food again and the flavours of everything else was so good. The fish and chips looked really good."
"Lovely, friendly pub. Really nice food & friendly service, although you have to order through the app, which was a bit of a pain, (much prefer table orders being taken). However, really enjoyable garden with heaters."
