"We waited for our sofa 9 weeks more than promised. Our sofa turned up with rips and different coloured legs. We also ordered a foot stall to match but now 5 months down the line we still don’t have it although it was promised 6 weeks after the sofa. Every time I speak to Callum he promises refund back for the damage which we haven’t received and also saying the foot stall will be delivered next week. It is now next week and still no foot stall. One to avoid. Feels more of a scam to me."
"Great product but difficult to communicate with and had many delays. We're happy in the end but would look elsewhere in future for a Chesterfield sofa. Made the order and were advised all would be fine for Christmas. We checked in closer to and got no reply by phone, email, or WhatsApp. This happened several times. Finally using the chat bot on the website we got told there were told just a delay until January but coming 4th January. Date missed with no explanation. We got back in touch (eventually) and told there were fabric issues in the factory despite one sofa already having been made (ex-show room). We continued to struggle with comms (the online chat disconnected or was ignored a fair bit but WhatsApp improved). Courier gave us a date by SMS then cancelled. Gave us another date and cancelled again. I contacted the courier and apparently payment had not been made by Chesterfields (I got in touch easily with the couriers). Got in touch with chesterfields and was told they'd been having issues with the courier. Then got messaged by the courier a day or 2 later saying shipping date had been confirmed (sounded like an invoice had now been paid). Sofas arrived and are great. High quality, feel very sound, and are comfortable. I'm thrilled we got them, but it was a mission. According to Chesterfields, the issue was the courier, which rather belies the claim on their website that they have an in-house courier (totally cool to outsource - but be honest mate!). I asked the chesterfields team to try and explain why things had gone wrong to see if there was a good answer, as I don't want to be harsh to a small "family" business in a cost of living crisis (I explicitly said this to them in closing out comms and that I planned to leave a review). They said they'd reply the next day but took 4 days to message me saying issues were being had with the courier. I was disappointed by this and felt it was emblematic of my whole experience, hence 2 stars not 3. They advertise they have an in house courier but clearly don't. Their communications are poor even when given full heads up that they can recover loss of face a bit. They blame the courier with whom we had no issues (OK - we have a limited view)."
"Through the medium of live chat on their website, I was kept informed of progress made in the construction of my new Sofas from Chesterfields of England. The Sofas arrived in good time and we are delighted with the quality of the Items, (x1 Three seat and x1 two seat antique red Sofa). I would highly recommend Chesterfields of England for good customer service and high quality furniture."
"Order is 8 months old now. No delivery yet even though they were paid for in full. Excuses given which can't be true - the shipping company was told today the goods still aren't ready, despite the company saying they tried to deliver a month ago. Emails not answered. Not worth the hassle - hoping they are not a scam company as I still don't have my money back. Don't get sucked in by the discounts as I did!"
"Our sofa and chairs were delivered a year ago in November 2021 and arrived with noticeable damage, the worst being a rip in one of the sofa cushions. I have been in back and forth email contact with Callum Tombs ever since. I have phoned their office on several occasions and been told I’ll receive a call back - the call never comes. All I’ve been asking for is a replacement cushion and some kind of partial refund/compensation for the mistakes made and stress caused. The customer service is dire and I have been fobbed off at every turn. Chesterfields are quite happy to deliver damaged products and then leave customers high and dry. I have given up hope that this will ever be resolved and I’m left with damaged products that cost me thousands of pounds. I will never use this company again and would advise others never to use this company. Update 05/11/22: Callum arranged for a partial refund and replaced the sofa cushion. It took 12 months but the issue is now resolved."
