"Really good place for a sunday lunch. It's large inside with plenty of different areas. The back part has a great open fire which gives the place a cosy feel. Good outside area with a bar in the summer too. The menu is good and they have a good range of drinks. All in all a great place to stop in for a meal or a drink. Worth noting it's also on the green chain walk so a good place to stop in to take a break."
"I went for a work Christmas party. The pub is absolutely stunning. It is spacious, well decorated and warm. The service was decent, but I found the food to be a let down. The starter was very dry, the main was okay - the beef was cooked well but nothing was amazing and I didn't like the dessert. The custard was not smooth but lumpy and the crumble was mainly fruit Reply to business response: There was only one lady serving 17 people and she was working hard. It also meant she moved quickly and then disappeared. There wasn't an oppotunity to get someone and everyone who had the same meal as me said exactly the same thing. It is clear that every dish was cooked exactly to the standard that the business thought was acceptable, but it simply wasn't to mine and not quite worth the money that was paid for it. In following discussions multiple colleagues have said the same without prompting. As a good blogger I am happy to provide a detailed review of what could have been improved"
"Went at 3pm on a (37°c) Monday afternoon, which was a lovely time to go. Sat in the shaded beer garden, which is beautiful. Also sat inside, which is perfectly air conditioned. Had yummy fish pie& broccoli stems. Will definitely be going back"
"This is definitely the hidden gem of Sydenham, the photos just doesn't do it any justice! Lovely "Posh pub" with a dining room and a lovely outside space. Just a beautiful place to look at, honestly. I had booked on the day, and secretly wished I had booked the day before as all the outside tables were fully booked until the early evening. They have little huts that have a TV in it and you must book these as they seem very popular, and rightly so. They also hire out for functions/Parties. They have 2 menus, one is the Woodhouse menu, and they have a Burger Shack menu, my partner and I decided on the burgers as we haven't had one in a while! I had the classic burger and my partner had the Loaded plant burger with JackFruit curly fries, which he liked. Long wait, but understandably as it was a Saturday in the day time and it was busy. Burgers were worth the wait and our server was friendly - he was not as chatty and happy maybe just an off day. Other than that we had a great time, and will most definitely be back and book in advance. Oh and free parking outside, Thanks again Wood House x"
