Reviews of St George's Square
"Event to celebrate 75 years of India & Pakistan. The event was organized by Kirklees county, directed by Mr. Martyn Heigh and his team. Environment of amity and friendship, cultural programs. Worth praise. Thanks to Kirklees county and Mr. Martyn."
"St George's Square is a clean and open space in Huddersfield town centre. It as a water feature that operates in the summer months, a large, bronze statue of one time prime ministers Harold Wilson who was born in Huddersfield. The stunning buildings that surround the square include the grade1listed railway station that was opened in 1847 and described by John Betjeman as "the most splendid in England." The station incoperates 2 bars at either side. Another architectural and historical building is the grade 2 listed building, The George Hotel which is where in 1895 the birth of Rugby League took place. This hotel is presently closed but rumours continue to circulate that this one time splendid hotel may be opened in time for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. The whole Square is surrounded by some of Huddersfield's most impressive buildings which also include Lion Chambers, Britannia Buildings and Tites building to name a few. St George's Square hosts many events including in December a four day Food and Drink festival and Festival of Light just to name a couple. In the summer months this Square is a vibrant, busy place and a real treasure of Huddersfield."
"Recently visited the food festival weekend. Was good weather and the atmosphere was great. Crowds were excellent and the food and drinks were plentiful."
"Food and Drinks Festival is fine if ur just drinking compared to last Yr and b4 it was a good experience, lacking entertainment and exotic meats like buffalo burgers and a hog slowly cooking on a spit. First 5 pics this yr nxt pics 2yrs ago, see the differences yourself."
