Reviews of EF International Language Campus - English courses in Manchester
"For three months, I attended the EF Language School in Mancherster. Aside from the classroom experiences, the team strives to attend to every detail in order to make the student as comfortable as possible. Personally, I had a great time there and have nothing but good memories. Having the time to experience international contacts between students, life in Manchester, living in a host family and the residence, and having the opportunity to travel around the UK in short trips.... In short, it will never be perfect, but if I had to choose again, I would choose Manchester to have a good time while learning English and experiencing the UK. Thank you, guys for the great time."
"I'm still in Manchester and can't wait to leave. Although the city is beautiful, and the teachers are great, there is a huge lack of organisation in the organisation of activities, where you pay to participate. I signed up for a visit to the mythical old trafford stadium which cost 20 pounds. On the day of the activity, ef officials tell me (and not only me) that the activity is postponed to the next day, which does not bother him in any way. So I leave the school, having finished my lessons. I finally learn in the evening that the visit has taken place, but I don't learn it from a person in charge by e-mail! No! it would be too complicated to send an e-mail to say that it is cancelled or that it is taking place! So another student tells me. My 20 pounds must have been swallowed by the company, which only thinks about money. There is also the pizza night, where there are no more pizzas left after 30 minutes (5.30pm) which was free (but not the bus!). I can't blame them for this, as my reservation for this evening was apparently not taken into account! This brings us to the other problem: the booking of activities. You don't know when you are registered or not. Showing interest in an activity doesn't mean you are registered except that you don't know that at the beginning. It's not very important but we have to book on the website and we can't do it on the application directly. Finally, the families. What a mess, what a lack of research and commercial gestures! Arrived 4 hours late at the airport, with a transfer already planned between the airport and my family, the taxi manager told me that he had to take me to the hotel. It is the taxi manager who informs me about a subject that is more than important in this trip. Once again, 0 mail, 0 call. I learn in fact that the family would have cancelled my arrival. One night later, they found me another family. What a surprise it was when I arrived at this new family to see that two people of the same nationality as me were already living there! The principle of living with a family is to be in total immersion and thus learn English better. So I asked to change family or to go to a residence, knowing that no one of my nationality was there. I was asked to pay 320 pounds for 2 weeks. Not wanting to pay that much, I went to a new family. This time it was not the other students who spoke French but the family directly. In spite of all this, it is important to say that the people at the school will always listen to you and be available (Thank you Amina and the reception team). Mr Ward and Miss Safdar are really good teachers."
"I started my first language study trip with EF this week. I had planned a two-week intensive course in Manchester to improve my language skills. I dropped out today after one week. I am really disappointed with the level and the way the classes are taught. It was very noisy in the classes, the interest and attention is extremely low. Some people from other courses I contacted told me the same thing. Many students were playing on their mobile phones the whole time, classes started between 15 and 60 minutes later than scheduled and were just totally disorganised. There are far too many differences in attitude and willingness to learn among the course participants. I am very interested in learning English, but I really have to say that this is not the right way for adults to improve their language skills. I am used to a different level of education, discipline and professionalism from school. I had imagined the whole thing to be much more professional and focused. Besides the fact that the accommodation was also not as equipped. I stayed at Hello Student Victoria and had expected to have my own bathroom and toilet when I booked a single room, but unfortunately I had to share this with others for a week. Despite speaking to them several times, nothing happened and I have the feeling that no one really cares. My learning success with apps like Duolingo is much better and much cheaper."
"I had a fantastic time here! I really don't want to leave! I want to thank with all my heart Anthony for everything he has done for me and for the enthusiasm he puts us in his work and with people, he is not just a member of the staff and he is also a friend to count on always. and I’m sure he ended this experience with many new friends all over the world. thanks for everything."
"I spent 2 months in EF Manchester last year and It was such a wonderful experience, so good that I made the decision to come back. Now, for 3 months, I'm doing an internship (other program they offer). The staff is really friendly and thoughtful (Diana and Krish are my favourites =D), they always make me feel like I'm at home. Weather and food are not the best, but all the people that you can meet absolutely make up for. Other important thing is the teachers, they are great, and if you follow the rule number one (Speak only in English) you can quickly improve your English. Every week there are different activities, so it's impossible get bored. And the last thing important for me, Manchester is located in the heart of UK, so it's really easy travel around =)"
