Reviews of St Ann's Square Apartments
"WARNING do not move in to St Annes Square apartments The LIghtwell in Manchester, M2, the apartment looked nice on viewing but after moving in there was alot of problems, when i came to the landlord about the issues i felt they tried to steam roll me into shutting up and putting up with it. Anyone thinking of moving into a St Annes Square apartment in manchester, there is a 6.30am cleaning lady that shows up and wakes you up this goes on for about 30-45 minutes where you just have to lay there awake waiting for her to finish cleaning before you can go back to sleep, i've asked repeatedly as you cannot ask Thornley anything once, it is email after email with push back from them before you get anywhere, they told me they had rescheduled the cleaner for a time that was not in violation of the environmental health act, and not happening at sleep time and hay presto! she's back here again at 6.30am so they lied to me. The atrium at St Anne's square seems to create an echo so you cannot in fact sleep in the apartments until gone midnight you have to wait for all your neighbours to come home from the pub before it is quiet enough to sleep. The bedroom for some reason is excessively hot i have a Tog Duvet of 1.0 the lowest Tog and still have to sleep with the window open, the heat in the room has caused all sorts of issues with dust mites in the bed, the bedroom window does not in fact fully open so you cannot get any real cool or ventilation in the room to feel comfortable sleeping in it. There is a church bell that goes off 24 hours a day, so when your bedroom window is open you can hear it in your bedroom in the middle of the night chimeing away, please be sure to try and lay down on the sofa in the living room before you decide not to move in, it is not fit for a midget, i am 5ft 4" tall and i cannot lay down on it properly, it stops about knee level, i have told thornley this is wrecking my spine as to lay on it i have to be in the fetal position, or have my body up in the air at knee level. i have had to sit on the floor for over a month as thornley and the landlord working together are refusing to put a usable sofa in, also the light in the bathroom is on a timer, so if you go to the bathroom during the night you have to wait 10-20 mins for that light to go out before you can go back to sleep. The lights in the Atrium are also on 24/7 so there is a light shineing in my bedroom at night when i sleep, again i have put in complaints with thornley about this and they have done absolutely nothing at all so far to fix it, even though i have made repeated complaints over a sustained period of time, i have to sleep with a tshirt over my face to drown out the unnatural light - thornley are useless, they are not responsive in fixing issues, they take a long time, they lie and say they've rescheduled a cleaner for a normal hour of the day then put her back on at 6.30am again, i have been sitting on the floor for over a month as i cannot use the sofa in my home, i can't sleep with all the noise and lights, WARNING do not move into St Anne's Square apartments in Manchester, the apartments are a pile of horse dung, you cannot in fact live in them"
"Avoid. Unsafe, dangerous, and damaged. I strongly advise anyone considering booking these apartments to avoid doing so. The apartments are not as per the photographs which must have been taken a long time ago. Furniture is broken, there was faulty wiring which led to a member of my group getting a very strong electric shock, all lightbulbs were missing in the apartment, the iPad and music provisions did not work at all, the glass table was shattered, decorative items were broken and much more. Their website says they have a 24/7 concierge which is untrue. What's more, the customer service is completely non-existant. I contacted the apartments on several occasions prior to my stay but received no reply. When a member of my group received a bad electric shock which also resulted in the fuse tripping, I called a 24h number found on their website and was told they would have to call me back the next day. They did not do this, nor did they respond to my calls or emails in the following two weeks. I strongly advise against staying in these apartments to stay elsewhere for better quality and a safer stay. Very poor experience and much better out there in Manchester."
"Regrettably, I should have checked reviews for this apartment before staying. We booked the apartment in Dec for our stay in March as it comes with free parking. However, a week before our stay, we got a message to say the parking is no longer avail. Upon arrival around 12noon , we went to the apartment as we wanted to unload the bags but no one was there to let us in. It was raining and we stood out there for a while but decided to return later. To access the apartment, we took a lift to the third floor and from there we had to go down several short flight of steps and doors which were most inconvenient with all our luggage. The most unpleasant experience was when I received an additional charge of GBP 80 after we had checked out. I called the manager to query the charge. He was adamant a pillow was missing from the apartment even though I assured him we left the apartment with a the pillows on the bed. So do be careful of the low rates offered as it comes with "hidden charges" on alleged "missing" items."
"Pros about these apartments: Modern apartment in a good location. Cons: The building is extremely noisy. Poor noise insulation on the walls. You can hear every single step and every door closed from the other apartments upstairs. We had a really hard time sleeping due to this issue. Also, concierge service is not fully onsite, we had some difficulty trying to check in. Nice apartments but extremely noisy. If I was asked to recommend it to friends... i will suggest them to try to find another hotel or apartment."
"We stayed this weekend at St Ann's Apartments we found the the gentleman on the front desk to be very help and showing us to our room. Once in side our apartment we shown around and he explained were every things was which found most helpful. In the kitchen we found all the cooking tools i would need to cook our meals. In our bedroom we found a good size double which was spotless the bedding was very fresh nothing was out of place was excellent and the bed very comfortable. We would stay at St Anns Square Apartment again in the future. We also found the staff to be very pleasant and very helpful to us. I would highly recommend these apartments Mrs Z Siewert"
