"The lady assigned to assess my son was amazing. She was so friendly and offered me so much help and advice. I didn't think we'd get an assessment so fast but we did (around 3-4 weeks after the first appointment)."
"Been waiting years! For my son who is diagnoses to access the medication he has been offered, every day there is a new excuse, I have had to involve our local mp and still the centre refuse to do anything! Everytime I ring the centre my call get diverted, so I can't call them anymore to complain, if you have a child in need of professional help... Do not bring them here, they will be FORGOTTEN about."
"I have been trying for years to get my daughter diagnosed, I have sent more then enough evidence to say my daughter struggles with social and communication but this place is just not interested at every turn they dismiss everything, I struggle mentally dealing with my daughters meltdowns trying to find ways to deal and help her plus trying to make everything seem ok to my ither children. Yet again we have been knocked back because they just quite simply don't want to have to deal with another assessment don't even have the decency to just speak to my daughter. Total waste of time trying to ask these for help."
"Angry and hurt. In the experience we had, after the initial assesment stage with false promises and allure, the therapist didn't make ongoing enquiry/interaction with the parent. I found them to be deflective when raising issues and untrustworthy. There's an assumption of responsibility and an abuse of authority."
"been under camhs since i was 12ish, now i’m turning 18. in my experience, the counsellors are not interested in what the patient wants. assessments, medication, etc., it’s all about what they find easiest. asked for ADHD and ASD assessments multiple times and was ignored/dismissed each time. haven’t had consistent appointments in 2 years leading me to believe that once you turn 15/16 they start to give up on you. lots of repetition in their so-called ‘therapy’ with classic lines such as ‘have a cup of tea/bath’ and ‘have you tried mindfulness?’ despite me always telling them that they don’t work for me. never been taken seriously by the staff as i ‘haven’t actually attempted suicide’ despite me having strong thoughts of suicide and self harm. lots of prescription troubles, added frustration due to name changes. would NOT recommend unless it’s a last resort."
