Reviews of Morrisons Cafe
"We have been going to Morrisons in Sheldon since it was built. The cafe food used to be nice - it was a pleasant pop in whilst shopping. Today and in recent months something has gone wrong in the cafe- waited AGES for our order as did many other people. Tables were not being cleared and we saw our food sitting waiting on the hob to be served ..and waiting to get colder by the minute. The staff seem chaotic - is it down to short staff? We will give the cafe a miss until ( hopefully) it sorts itself out. People were leaving their food...very disappointing in these difficult days."
"Have had really positive experiences of this cafe before, however, today I went with my Niece for dessert after a meal elsewhere. We ordered from the electronic menu. When we went to pick up what we had ordered none of it was available. At the till my Niece told the lady at the till that there was orange juice, but no smooth. The lady snatched the receipt out of her hand, huffed, saying there was some there. When she came back she said there was smooth in the machine but that wasn’t want we had paid for. I noticed that behind the till the preparation areas needed wiping down. In the end we brought cakes in store and took them home with us."
"Ordered two small meals the mini fish and the sausages and mash. Took almost 50 mins to come and when I asked the lady serving at the till she came across very rude and so did the lady cooking. Didn’t seem like they cared. I also brought a coke on the self serve but when I came to collect they didn’t have one so it got substituted with a Coke Zero which Is less money so I lost out. Food was cold when it got to us and not very nice. Won’t be coming again terrible service"
"A tale of two visits: Popped in the other day for a quick meal on a work break. Can’t eat anything too big so went for fish goujons and chips. Which is £4.75. I ordered it at 12.58pm and it arrived just under 30 minutes later. I could see it waiting under the hot lights for some time before they brought it to me and I was running out of time to get back to work. Although the chips were reasonably warm, the fish was just a soupçon above room temperature. A real shame as I think I would have enjoyed it a lot had it been hot and fresh. It was a bit difficult to cut through with a fork as the coating was getting really quite hard. Really disappointing. If you know morrisons café well you’ll know they’ve always done good fish that’s battered instore. The chips are hit and miss but the fish is usually excellent. Leave it sitting for a while and the result is not so good. I gave them a second chance again earlier today but when we got there the fryers had packed in so there was no fish and no chips so we went to Yum Yum across the road. Morrisons cafe has changed a lot since re-opening post Covid. The breakfast pictures on the digital ordering screen are stark and apocalyptic. Items spread on a plate, socially distanced and lonely. Soulless plates with all the vibes of an airlock on a spaceship. The ability to swap items has gone but the ability to remove items and get charged the same for less is there. The menu is much smaller and the prices much higher. A portion of chips is now £1.75, up from £1 and the £0.75 seems to comprise of getting less chips in a metal bucket (as big a sin as serving chips in faux frying baskets). Today there were two people in the cafe. They looked uncomfortable. The cafe looked devoid of spirit. It should be bustling, serving the community with decent food at reasonable prices."
"The staff were very friendly and the fish ,itself, was great quality melt in your mouth however the chips were a little dry and mushy peas were a little under seasoned but otherwise it was lush. The recently refurbished cafe still shows personality of what it looked like before however things like the table number holder should've been replaced because a lot of grime has built up on it and that kind of brought 'new' feeling back."
