"Service was very good. French onion soup was excellent. Lamb was not of high quality but what do you expect for this price? It was cooked well. Tip to the chef: do not overcook green veg. I liked the cosiness, white table cloth, good cutlery and crockery."

"This used to be my favourite place in hampstead. But recently the food has dropped the quality. The menu is changed and more tables have made the place all cramped. Sad. Post review : 5 years later went back again after pandemic. The extra decor is gone, cluttered furniture is gone. The menu is changed and good . The frog leg could have been better but still ok. The waitresses very friendly but very busy and not enough for the crowd. They forgot our wine and the bill. But can’t complain the environment is nice enough to wait."

"Edit: last time I went (May 2022), food was overcooked and no as good as I mentioned in my original review below. Without being the fanciest food or place, the french inspired food was quite decent (especially the coq au vin, which was delicious), the wine was excellent, and the location is quite convenient -- close to the tube station, in a quiet little street, and the post meal walk is astounding up to the hill. A must. (I joined to this review pictures of the streets around but not of the cute restaurant)."
