"I understand some of the other reviews about the lead up to actual reservation being a little impersonal (1.5 hour slot, quite a high minimum spend, not catering for food allergies etc). But by the time we walked through the doors it’s a high quality service (and we were asked if we had any dietary requirements after all!) and all is forgiven. Food was great. We were recommended between 9-10 dishes. Which was spot on. Nice little carafe of Riesling and a couple of cocktails. £125 a head. Highlight for me was the clear shrimp dumpling with “rice vinegar cloud”, honey roasted Iberico croustade … and the steamed duck yolk custard bun for the finale! It’s a special occasion place for sure … pricey but considering the quality of the food and that it is 2 ⭐️ ⭐️ … kinda makes sense."
"I went to the dim sum lunch, I have been there many times before the pandemic, and they have always been great, worthy of their 2 star reputation However todays experience was very unpleasant. I ordered 12 pieces of dim sum between two and wanted to taste the classics, before ordering more. The food was very nice still but the experience was ruined by the customer service. The sever told me that the recommended portion per person was 8-10 pieces however I wanted to try my favourites before ordering more. He then said that there is a minimum spend of £100 per guest. This new policy was introduced just after the pandemic. I have never heard such a ridiculous thing, he said if you look at your email, you would see this new policy. Each piece of dim sum is roughly £5 which is very reasonable, even if a person ordered 10 pieces each, with drink and dessert you would not even reach £100 per guest. You would have to eat ridiculous amount of dim sum to get £100 a guest, very rarely do people drink alcohol with dim sum, mostly tea. The server was very antagonising and rude, as he mentioned it after my meal. He said, “make sure you read the policy next time you book” unfortunately I will lot be coming back next time. The food was very good and I would have enjoyed my meal, if the customer service was matched, next time match the customer service with the food. 1 star for the service The food did not match the customer service. Please be aware of this new policy, it ruins the meal!"
"Definitely beyond regular dim sum. The food delivered what one would expect from a Michelin starred place - taking flavours and textures beyond the ordinary and reimagining timeless classics to create dishes that are nostalgic yet fresh and unexpected. The service was good once we were seated but the initial welcome was lack lustre - leaving guests standing awkwardly whilst you loudly greet friends of the business would be unprofessional even for a non-starred restaurant, to then do so after your guests have already waited out on the pavement because you opened late is just rude. The conservatory area is a little lacking in ambiance and overall, I would have thought this place is still a 1 Michelin star rather than 2."
"Great experience. We went for the Taste of China tasting menu which was amazing, and the waiters are very attentive. Only real complaint is that it is ridiculously hard to book a table, and we had to book months in advance. We also had to rearrange several times due to govt restrictions which of course isn't the restaurant's fault but in that time the price of the menu increased by 46 GBP a head which is not small. That being said, once we arrived the experience was amazing from start to finish."
