Reviews
"An excellent Nicholson's pub in a beautiful old bank building. First visited with Martin Meerkat back in 1996 when several such bank conversions were taking place in the area. Used to pop in to see Jeff and the footie results. Excellent real ale but at city centre prices..£5+. Good food but also fairly expensive at £15+ for a main. There is a pie meal deal with a pint at certain times."
"Allegedly award winning pies not sure who the other competitors were. Our steak and pale ale pies contained stewing steak . Looked nice thick lattice pastry yet with a fair amount of grissel. The veg was equally disappointing with stringy beans and tasteless peas. Not worth the over £15 a head cost when same pies are cheaper with a drink during the week"
"The ground floor of the the early 19th century Portico Library provides a wonderful setting for a cosy but elegant pub with a solid selection of beer and dishes. Dark beer is available in the form of the omnipresent Guinness. Vegan and vegetarian options are available like the Burger with beyond meat. A rock solid choice you can't go wrong with. A clear recommendation!"
"This is a fantastic pub in a not so great location Morley Street bit tucked away . The food is OK just typical pub food . A little over priced for what you get . The building itself is is amazing full of character"
