"Just popped in after a walk up Kinda Scout with an old friend last Saturday. I remember this pub as the Sportsman but I have to say it feels like there is more about the place than those days now. There is a beautiful atmosphere and the first thing I noticed after my walk up a big breazy hill was the heat. When I stepped in I was met by a wall of welcoming heat. The next thing I noticed was a Neil Young t-shirt on a young member of the bar staff, and then I noticed some really nice beer. Top pub, top people, great pint... And nice choice of crisps. Thanks one and all, wish I could have stayed longer."
"Good to see this pub is now reopen. Friendly staff. Three real ales on hand pump to add to the good drinks range. A work in progress but a great start. Check opening times beforehand if visiting midweek."
"Beautiful pub with an outstanding view in the main bar. Huge window looking out onto the countryside. So relaxing. Really cool team behind the bar, really welcoming and nice to chat to about the plans for the pub. Excited to see what comes next, especially when the kitchen is set up. Decent drinks, tasty looking proper coffee and a cool lounge vibe, looking forward to coming back and staying longer."
"Strines Nightingale shows their is hope for an incredible venue, after death by annexed strangulation, that has been dished out by the corporate drinks industry to the independent pubs in the High Peaks. There’s nowhere you’d rather be locally. The type of place you’ll realise makes you want to relocate to the area. All whilst listening to music worthy of James Ford short. It’s effortless. You won’t be disappointed. A credit to the area."
