Reviews of Hélène Darroze at The Connaught
"In my opinion, other Michelin restaurants are much better, I definitely don’t think they deserve 3 star. Imagine cookie cutter pretty plates brought to you from the back refrigerator. Nothing is surprising or exciting. I don’t recommend. An artistic experience for a lavish palate (although, I wasn’t a fan of the bread ice cream). The lunch week-day menu is a hidden gem, at half the price of the dinner menu and with many of the same items. I only put a 1 star because I just don’t think they’re creative enough for 3 star and I did get ill after eating here. I thought it could be the brill, but none of their other 60 diners were sick that day. It only takes one bad item, a very rare case I’m sure, but unfortunately that was my personal experience. They wanted lab samples which I couldn’t provide since I couldn’t see a doctor here within 24 hours. So if you do get sick, there is absolutely no compensation, only that they are sure it wasn’t them because they are a 3 star Michelin, 5 star hotel and you must open a case with lab samples. So that was uncomfortable."
"We had a wonderful night last night at Helene Darroze for my partner’s birthday. Excellent service from very attentive service staff. Our favourite was the scallop dish with tandoori spices. Thanks everyone for an incredible night we had, hope to come back again for more good memories."
"My first visit to this top French restaurant in London. I had the “Taste of Spring” menu and every course was nice and delicious. My favourite was the “Scallop” dish. The scallop itself was cooked to perfection, while the sauce and the carrot purée combined perfectly to create this amazing dish. As for dessert, my favourite was the “Forced Rhubarb”."
"We had a great time but dishes were inconsistent We came to the Connaught for Friday lunch and we had a great time but a lot of dishes were not up to mark. Butter and bread were delicious (how do you make the butter look like sea urchins?!) The service was impeccable. Venison steak tartare was very nice but I’ve had better steak tartares in London (Hide or Trinity). The fish dish was lovely. Desserts were nice but forgettable. The take home dessert was absolutely delicious and such a nice touch. Overall, it was a great experience but we did expect slightly more from all dishes given the restaurant’s three stars."
