Reviews of Da Mario Covent Garden
"Great little restaurant. If you want to eat proper Italian food, I highly recommend it. Good food, fast service, friendly staff. What can you ask for more?"
"We had a very pleasant meal in this small and intimate family run restaurant. The bruschetta and burrata were both tasty. For the main, I enjoyed my tiger prawn with black rice. One of my friends raved about her lasagna, I think she would give that dish 6 stars if she could. My other friend who had the Italian sausage pasta was bit less enthusiastic about it though. The meal was topped off with two fantastic desserts: the tiramisu and the creme brûlée flambé. Both are simple, classic dishes but so many restaurants don’t get it right. You won’t be disappointed here."
"A small, family-run Italian serving great pasta dishes (there’s no pizza). The staff are friendly and happy to answer any questions on the menu and Italian pronunciation. We were really pleased with the dishes we chose, everything was fresh and well cooked and presented. We ordered from the cheaper end of the wine list (the San Lorenzo Chianti) and it really added to the meal. Not the cheapest and a little bit cramped (both standard in London) but a nice vibe and great food and service."
"My food was all tasteless: The bruschetta that my partner and I had was chopped tomatoes on bread - no herbs, spices or flavour. The breadcrumbed cheese itself again was lacking in any discernible flavour - "a fancy mozzarella stick" my brother referred to it as. It came with a honey and chilli dip which was essentially honey with a few chili flakes. A child could put that together accidentally. Lastly my sausage and broccoli pasta arrived with nothing more than plain butter on it with the pasta being al dente to the point of laziness. I also got the feeling that a couple of the staff were rushing to get us out. The place gets 3* because my partner's Ragu pasta was really good, the waiter we had was hilarious and they greeted my brother on his 18th with a glass of bubbly. All in all though won't be going back."
