Reviews of Brick Lane Brasserie - Award-winning curry house
"We went as a group of 4, for a dinner service on Saturday evening. The food tasted great and with an offer was very well priced. However, the tables seemed smaller than what you'd expect for a restaurant and the music and decor could have provided a better atmosphere. Service was generally OK."
"Great food ate far too much and still unfortunately had leftovers. Good price negotiated. Staff quickly found and fixed up an overcharge"
"Tldr, inauthentic flavours, false (paid) reviews, sky-high prices for what it is, not award winning at all. We booked here using The Fork and had a 40% discount, the bill for 2 came up to £42 after the discount. We had a ceylon lamb curry, madras chicken curry, palak paneer, naan, and pilau rice. The good thing was that service was good. Most of the reviews here mention that in exchange for a 5 star rating, you get a discount and or free drinks? I suppose this place is excellent with its marketing in this way... NOT award winning curry, everything was so catered to British taste buds it should be called a British curry house tbh. Palak paneer was terribly sweet which is a first. The chicken in the madras curry was all breast and thus very dry and limp, unfortunately. The ceylon held up well but as I said, does not reflect authentic flavours at all. It was all a mishmash or flavours, confusing. Naans were great! It was BOILING HOT in the restaurant despite it being a wintery night, both of us needed to get out for some air ASAP! It was a tight squeeze even just to get seated the next table had to be moved. The bill took awhile to arrive and did not expect to pay that amount after the discount, yikes! Can't imagine paying full price for this meal. Would not recommend coming here, go to another one on the same road, lots of other options that have better food, better price, and better atmosphere."
"Wonderful little gem. Dont look much for the world but the curry is veeeery good. Fast and exact service, attentive and funny staff. A bit tacky interior but dont let that stop you, its great food and full value for your money."
"We visited last night, having booked as we were staying nearby. On arrival we were greeted and quickly led to our table, an extensive menu placed in front of us and poppadoms & chutneys followed soon after. Thr chutneys and raita were tasty but the food that followed was wonderful. The rice fluffy, the naan pillow and light and the curries both excuisite. I went for a lamb tikka mint korai which was flavourful and tender, with just a little kick. My wife opted for a balti chicken dopiaza which she says has ruined other curries for her as it was so good. We fell into conversation with a gent eating solo at the next table who knew all the staff well and he said he had been visiting for years, I totally understand why! Before leaving we were given a complimentary shot of our choice (we opted for tequila) and had already decided we will be back on our next trip to London!"
