"The worse service I've had in all me life, Basically I purchased an expensive pair of boots, I hardly wore them but after only a few weeks they started to peel away. So I took them back and manager said thats normal they can't do anything, I said I'm not happy and i would like change them for a different brand, she said we will try and glue them back for you and they won't fail again! It sounded like they didn't want to help me because I had bought them in a sale! I wasn't happy but she insisted. When I returned to pick them up after a week they couldn't find them, they asked me to come back again after 12:30 as thats the only time the manager is available! basically the manager doesn't communicate with her staff. After many weeks and phone calls and visits, the manger told me they couldn't be repaired so advised me to come into the shop for a refund, me and my wife visited the shop again however they said they couldn't give us refund as i paid using vouchers that my wife had given me so they asked me to chose another pair, we insisted that we just wanted our money back and didn't want to buy from this shop as customer service is absolutely appalling and Terrible, one of the staff said "I think we have exceptional service"! my wive said something about poor service and one of the staff walked pass my wife and in a very rude manner says "whatever" So my wife demanded her money back but they refused and told us to come back again when manager is in! In the end the manger could not even refund us and was given vouchers to spend at meeks, what an insult very disappointing, in the end we was forced to travel to the Meeks Oldham branch and I bought a pair of Clarks, the staff at the Oldham branch were helpful and had human nature. So avoid the Ashton branch as staff are so rude and disrespectful after reading other people's reviews looks they haven't changed in many years. They just natter all day and don't respect customers, even though we are actually paying their wages! They should all be given the boot!"
"It is refreshing to have such good service. Bought a pair of shoes that had slight fault, and staff replaced them without batting an eye lid,(especially when shops are under so much pressure in current times). I'm surprised to see any bad reviews as that was not our experience. Thank you"
"Nice shoes, terrible service. No help offered at any point. Had to go to counter and wait for the three ladies there to stop chatting before I could get some help with shoes to try. If I hadn’t known exactly what I wanted I certainly wouldn’t have continued shopping. A lady gave me the shoes I asked for and told me they didn’t have one of the two sizes I asked for but had brought a larger size. Then promptly went back to her chat. The sizes were exactly the ones I asked for not what she told me they were, which was fine but odd. I was left to try them on with no further help or comment offered. I did buy shoes and am very happy with the brand. However, in future I will shop somewhere where my custom is appreciated."
"My first visit to Meeks Shoes was quite impromptu during a visit to Ashton under Lyne, when the stunning window display tempted me into the shop. On entering I was warmly greeted and invited to look around, where one or two of the models on display caught my eye and the shop assistant was more than willing to find my size and even suggested alternative styles that I might like to consider! I was so impressed with quality of the footwear I purchased and the whole shopping experience that the next time I knew I was to visit Ashton I looked on the website to find the opening hours of the store so I could incorporate another visit during my stay in the town. However, on looking at the website I was shocked to read some of the comments that have been left in the review section and, because vitriolic reviews like these can actually do real damage to a business, I am posting my personal observations to try to redress the balance. The description of the interaction with the staff is so far removed from my own experiences of shopping in Meeks Shoes that I think they may well have been writing about a different establishment altogether. During my now several visits to the shop I have been treated with nothing but the utmost respect and professionalism by each member of staff and from my observation of the treatment of other customers, my experience is not unique. I thoroughly enjoy visiting this shop and will patronise this business whenever I am in the vicinity."
"My experience at Meeks shoes was at Ashton under Lyne and the manager is very condescending. I purchased to pairs of Hi Kick patent boots for my daughters and they are no good after only 5 months leaking water because of broken leather and stitching coming undone. The manager didn't even bother to take a look at them but merely decided to accuse my daughter of wearing them incorrectly. How do you wear shoes incorrectly for school. Bottom line is I wouldn't shop there again and she is rude. If you pay £60 for a pair of shoes they should last longer than that. Her idea is after 3 months you have no right to complain no matter how expensive. Poor service and attitude beware."
