"Birthday treat! Attentive staff. Lovely food, especially the Thai dumplings and generous portion size. Defo recommend."
"Went for dinner here with my wife on Sunday 10th July at 7pm, and were warmly greeted by the two ladies serving and the owner Alfie, a well known and respected businessman in the local area. We had warm prawn crackers to start with chilli dip which we enjoyed with some draught Cobra beer (for me) and a bottle of Pinot Grigio (for her), we chose tempura vegetables and tempura prawns as our starters, followed by weeping tiger (a sizzling beef dish) deep fried sea bass, chicken pad thai, and egg fried rice. All the food was beautifully presented (see picture) perfectly cooked and flavoured. Apart from the food the staff are very helpful and in particular able to guide in making the right menu choices if you don’t eat Thai food often (as I don’t) As others have mentioned, the restaurant is quite small so it is advisable to book in advance especially at busy times. Highly recommend the Thai Emperor, will definitely visit again soon"
"The drinks selection was vast with a lovely presentation glass of the Amaretto. The decor of the staff and restaurant is admirable. Contemporary yet approachable. The food service was prompt and friendly with a lovely young waitress who served the dinner with a smile. To start, we ordered Thai dumplings; steamed to a delicious level of softness. The dumplings set the bar high for the rest of the meal. The main course was a aromatic Pad Guay Teaw Kee-Mao, a perfect level of spice for those who enjoy a slight kick, with tender prawns and adequetly cooked noodles. The bar was set high, to finish the meal we decided to share a plate of the banana fritters. Served with vanilla ice cream it was a tasty combination of sweet and savoury; however the fritters themself were a tad oily and the ice cream was fast to melt. I would recommend a different bowl for the ice cream next time. As a whole the experience was memorable, approachable and professional. A must visit for those who are a fan of Thai food. Would certainly comeback to try the rest of the menu."
"Fantastic crispy Sea Bass and Prawn Pad Thai. We discovered it by accident unable to get in another thai we thought let’s give it a try. The two dishes we had were perfection. The Sea Bass was lightly cooked with a perfect tempura. It’s is not fine dining what is - is good food with good service in a high street eatery."
