Reviews of Tandoor At The Chambers
"It's Indian cuisine but not a typical Indian restaurant. It's both familiar and yet somehow unfamiliar - and I once lived in India. Sunday lunch 1pm. Perhaps the perfect time to visit. The place had only a few other diners. It had an extremely chilled Sunday afternoon atmosphere. We loved our dishes. Complex and subtle spicing made working out the ingredients difficult. Smoked garlic and fenugreek were abundant in a few but add the tandooor cooked meat and you have a whole new level of flavour. Interesting that the chicken used was thigh...which you don't often see over here, juicy, succulent and moreish. The dishes, for me which come with notieriry are the Kale Chaat, the Karahi Murgh and definitely the Daal Tarka. It was a delicious lunch, served with care (and attention) in relaxed surroundings. We'd definitely be back, but I don't want to when it's packed, as it usually is."
"Restaurant with friendly, out-going staff and a cool interior. The starters, especially the kale salad were great. However, the mains, especially the lamb and the duck were seasoned a little too heavily for our liking"
"Nice ambience and great location (very nice quaint high street). Food was decent, starters were great. Mains was ok but very heavy and rich, think due to a lot of butter in the curry dishes (not just the butter chicken). Starter lamp chops were excellent. Staff were accomodating and friendly. Made some dishes extra spicy as requested. Quick service when ordering drinks. Pricey restaurant for the food but overall good experience."
"Where do I start. This is definitely 1 of the BEST Indian restaurants I've eaten at. The venue is beautifully decorated. We sat under the indoor tree which feels fun, looks beautiful. The starters are phenomenal. Twists on classic keema as a starter - so flavoursome. The game changer is the kale chaat. I've dreamt of it since our visit in July. Perfect blend of crunchy, creamy and diverse flavours. Then the corn ribs. Wow! Genius. The masala (flavour) on these is KAPOW. wasn't expecting much from them so they're the underdog alongside the jale chaat. As for mains, the best chicken curry dishes. We tried the chicken tikka and the pieces of succulent thigh meat have the distinct tabdoor charred flavour. The Paneer tikka masala (or was it butter curry) was another level of creamy indulgence. The bombay potatoes (?) - extraordinary for a potato...something I'd never usually order. Why? Crushed sesame crumb. It took a good few tries to guess what it was...crushed sesame for the gentle crunch and then softness of the potatoes cooked in mustard seeds. Not to be missed. Best Indian restaurant!"
"Went there last week for the first time and loved the food so much that I made another trip in the same week! Highly recommend the lamb chops and kale chaat - never tried anything like that before. It’s a cosy restaurant with friendly staff and quirky decor. Conveniently, there’s also parking very close by. I did find it pricey, but the quality and innovation behind the dishes makes up for it. I also like that with some dishes they ask how spicy you’d like it which is different from most Indian places I’ve been to. Will definitely be back again soon!"
