"Leaving the store to pick up my takeaway, I was ready to give this place a 1 star, then I got home and tasted the food... the food is pretty good and actually cooked quite well but the customer service is the downfall. **There is no menu or pricing so things could get messy.**"
"My husband and I visited Mimi's kitchen today whilst driving pass. I must say we received exceptional service from the manager/owner, I left feeling very happy. (She's an absolute diamond). Food was very very tasty. We're completely happy with everything. Thank you Mimi"
"Mimi's Kitchen's cooking, has an authentic taste, second to none at the moment. Their soups are nicely favoured and well prepared. The only downside is that management need to invest in the eat-in aspect of the restaurant, to make it comfortable for the general public and not a selected few. I personally would appreciate comfy seats and tables for customers and a menu."
"I can’t even give this one star. On 2 occasions i ordered food from these people and the food they brought had clearly passed the expiry. On 2 separate other occasions they brought near frozen food to my house. This tells me that the company has a serious issue with food storage and preservation and quality control. I have every mind to report these people to the food hygiene standards agency. When I tried to bring it up to them they were so rude and even hung up on me. To make it worse I tried to call back but they do not not have a phone service in operation for customers to reach them. Absolutely dreadful!"
"UPDATE 21/NOV/2020 Ok I went to the place again and things seems to have improved. They replaced the younger lady that worked there, a more confident lady was there, also a young guy assisted when there was queue building up. Still no sign saying Cash Only. I ordered for ayamase big size. While I thought the size was small, when I compared the size to big ayamase sold at Tasty; the Tasty's ayamase was 500grams less! Yet both were sold for £6. So far I would recommend this place. Covid-19 Pandemic Second Wave (review) Nice decor, everything is clean, and some chairs for dining in. At the moment is 2nd Lock down, so the chairs were stacked up. SERVICE Service was very poor! The girl working behind the til was unhelpful and kinda rude it felt like she didn't want to be there. (the manager needs to teach her customer service or get rid of her. Ungrateful people like her should learn there are thousands of people losing jobs left and right because of virus, but she is so lucky to be working here!) My wife asked about the ayamse, she couldn't even explain in detail, it was like she doesn't even know what she was serving. When I was about to pay, she said £21, cash only. This is ridiculous, they should have put a Sign post letting customers know it is CASH ONLY. I had to take cash out which cost me extra! And the way she dropped the money in my hand was rude. Either she does not know customer service, or it is just another typical Nigerian with no manners. No napkins was provided, no fork or spoon given as a take away (even though we didn't ask for fork/spoon, napkins should have been provided). No receipt was given for our order. Also no one was wearing a mask, in the midst of this Pandemic! FOOD I was happy with the selection of food, they do snail (igebin), and pepper soup. Whereas Tasty does not serve them, Tasty restaurant do pepper soup but were not serving in season. They do usual jollof, fried rice, plantain, yam etc. They do large variety of dishes. But they don't do suya at the moment but the snail compensates for this. TASTE Very very tasty! The gizzard was nice and tasty with the sauce it was covered with. Pepper soup was delicious though kinda salty, we had to add a little bit of water to reduce the salty taste. I guess the essence ingredients is located at the bottom of the soup. Ayamase was nice and tasty, snail was good too. VALUE poor portion! Plain rice portion was VERY poor, I can understand it is a small portion with ayamse. But it is plain rice, plain rice is so EASY to make. They could have given more portion. It is not jollof or fried rice we ordered. Snail cost £6 just for ONE quantity! Gizzard cost £1.50 and you get more portion than snail. Ayamse with small rice cost £6 which is not bad, but big size ayamse is also £6. Size of pepper soup I cannot judge, but I am happy with the assortment of meats. I am not happy with the extra £1 charge for each dishes, though I would say the taste were very good. Also the hot quality for the food were poor. When I got the food, and by the time I walked to my car which took 3 minutes. The gizzard temperature was mild. When I got him after 15mins, all food went cold, except for the white rice which was warm. This is unacceptable because if someone ordered for takeaway, sure they can microwave it. But that is NOT the reason why they ordered takeaway, they ordered takeaway to be eaten straight away in hot condition. It is like ordering kfc/burger King as take away, and your food was delivered cold. You wouldn't be happy would you? CONCLUSION If you had enough of Tasty restaurants or other African restaurants but you want to try a different restaurant, you can come here. Price for the dishes are quite unfair but taste is very delicious. Customer service is poor, that girl needs to be taught customer service! I would give this easy 4 stars, but manager needs to see why I gave 3 stars so the issues can be addressed. Should I recommend it? I don't know. I will try them again and see if they address any of the issues."
