"During this difficult time restaurants have be kind enough to honestly administer the eat out to help out scheme, halfing the cost of all of the items on the menu. However there are a select few that are using this opportunity to con both the public and the government by increasing their prices. Having previously written a favourable review, I would like to regretfully retract my review of black pepper grill. While browsing the menu I had realised that they have increased the prices of certain items. This occurring within just over a week of my original review. Obviously we understand that businesses are struggling but that is why the people are eating out. The dining in experience was ruined knowing that we were essentially 'getting bumped'. Onto the food, the chicken steak was rubbery and for £18 was a disappointing dish. On the other hand the peppercorn sauce enhanced the flavour of the food. Rating: 4/10 The lamb chops (£18) were tiny, barely able to satisfy a person's appetite. The gravy did give it a bit of flavour but not enough to boost its rating much. Rating: 5/10 Apparently they give complimentary hummus and naan as they say, unless they are picking and choosing who they give it to. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they were out....at 5pm. Please do yourselves a favour and spend a lovely evening elsewhere!"
"Went with my mate to Black Pepper yesterday for the first time. Short staffed on the busy day for eat out to help out but managed the restaurant and customers really well. We were greeted and served by a lovely waitress. Had a well done rib-eye steak with thick chips and creamy peppercorn sauce and bbq sticky wings. Went for lemon and lime mojito. I go there again and would recommend anyone to go there and try the bbq sticky wings. If you a steak lover, the peppercorn sauce is a must !!!"
"The food is nothing great to talk about, I do not understand what all this hype and rave review is about tbh. The food is at most mediocre. The steak has been asianfied, I asked for medium and they did well done.. Also too chewy. The burger is just your standard gormuet burger quite dry without any sauces inside. Both my friends who tired the steak and burger got some sort of food poisoning as one had diarrhoea and the other had intense vomiting! The only thing great was the deboned lamb which I think if you really want to visit this restaurant is the thing to try and my friend didn't have a nasty reaction to! On the plus note the decor, food presentation is nice as well as the staff, but at the end of the day food talks!"
"Tried the mixed Sautee platter, wings, roast leg of lamb, Mojitos and chocolate cake. The beef was soft and juicy with not a single chewy piece. The sautee sauce was peppery but didn't overpower the meat. The chicken was just as tasty. I'd say more chips should be included. Lots of seating at the back. Decor was nice and service was good. We would visit again to try the other mains. A shout out to the chef who came to the table to ask us about the food. Top man."
