Reviews
"Found this restaurant serving authentic Malaysian food tucked away near Crofton Park Railways Station. The flavours of the main dishes were authentic, though the beef rendang was tough to chew and Char Kuey Teow was a little too oily. The kuihs were a lovely surprise though there was too much sirap bandung in the kuih lapis to our taste. Overall if you're craving for Malaysian food this is a good place to go, especially if you live in the area !"
"We tried to go a couple of weeks in a row and couldn’t get in on a weekend, so calling and booking in advance highly recommended. The food was actually pretty amazing and there were multiple vegetarian (with the option for vegan), fish and meat options. You can BYOB for a £2 charge too. Would definitely recommend as it was relatively cheap and staff seemed nice!"
"We really enjoyed this place. Food was fresh, delicious and very flavourful. Service was super friendly and attentive but not overbearing. They do a Sunday brunch menu with veggie, vegan and kids options which we will definitely give a go. For those interested they do BYOB. We’ll be back."
"I’m not an expert in Malaysian food, but we really enjoyed our meal. I especially liked the acar awak (pickled veg). The roti were fresh and delicious! And I love pandan so loved the custard dessert. Friendly staff and great prices."
"I fully expected to leave five stars for this place as the previous reviews are glowing. I love Singaporean and Malaysian food and have been dying to have authentic beef rendang for ages without me slaving over a stove for the full day but unfortunately this place did not hit the spot. Firstly both drink orders came out wrong. I ordered mint and lime juice and it was just lime juice. They took it back and dropped a few mint leaves in the drink but if you don’t crush the leaves you won’t get any mint flavour so it had to be taken back again. The drink was mostly ice so maximum four sips. For £3 this just isn’t good enough. The teh tarik halia I ordered came without ginger. They insisted I ordered teh tarik so refused to change it AND charged me for it despite drinking less than a third of it! Onto the beef rendang. It was decent in that it was edible and had some good flavour and if I didn’t know what beef rendang was supposed to taste like perhaps I would have been happy with it but where was the galangal? Toasted coconut flakes? Melt in your mouth tender beef? All absent. I have had rendang all over Singapore and Malaysia and never had one with meat this tough? It is supposed to be so tender that you find shreds of it in the dry sauce. I was so disappointed. Onto the roti chanai and chicken curry. Curry was nice and flavourful and the roti was ok but not fresh. The prawn crackers were good and had a kick to them that my daughter really enjoyed. The staff were pleasant and friendly but in business the customer is always right. The staff got the order wrong twice and blamed me, the customer. All it all it wasn’t the worst but there are so many other places to explore for me to ever consider going back."
