Reviews of umut 2000 Harringay
"We went as a family to celebrate my son’s birthday, I really don’t understand how people are giving this restaurant so many stars! I gave two stars for friendliness and the salad, bread etc.. it is so basic and overpriced, £95 for a platter with ribs the size of your pinky finger, unappetising white colour bulgar rice.. atmosphere is basic too, stained chairs etc.. far too expensive, wanted to try somewhere new but highly regret it, in my opinion the best Turkish dining places are in stoke newington, dalston are.."
"I love Umut 2000. I love the food. I love the staff. It seems if you purchase approximately 300 chicken Shish wraps across a 5-year period then you are rewarded with a framed picture on the wall. I’m not sure what they do with the humus but it’s topped with a mad butter sauce of deliciousness. I feel like someone said it was like a burnt butter and pomegranate molasses mix or something like that but I might have made that up completely. Either way I feel it sort of describes well. Not sure if it only come with the meat platter or every meal. The ribs in the meat platter are juicy lil boi’s. Yes pleeeeeasee me likey. If you are taking away then get a chicken Shish wrap. And don’t even think about not getting size large. Chicken, yes. Onion salad, yes. Soft bread, yes. Tip tip: order an additional side salad for extra fresh health gains."
"Personally probably the best Turkish restaurant I have ever had. One star missing for the service"
"This is where one should go when they miss authentic Turkish food and cafe vibes (and my Turkish friend brought me here, so). Let's start with the complimentary sides, which are pretty common in Turkey. And they tasted as good as they look in the photo. Kebabs were well done and there's not much to say about this. The portions are generous as well. I also liked how they kept topping up our bread basket with steamy fresh bread. Finally, staff is just friendly and attentive: pouring tea, making sure all is good. Would totally recommend."
"Friendly service and a menu with a good selection of dishes and different styles of kebab. Generous portions with side dishes like grilled onion in pomegranate juice, onion salad with sumac as well as the usual bread and dips alongside a decent salad. The mixed chicken and lamb adana and chicken shish and adana were tasty and of good quality meat (great value at £17 each). The only disappointment is their chilli sauce is from a bottle and not homemade."
