Reviews of The Hyde Restaurant, Bar, Garden & Club Privé
"My first time at this restaurant and it was an excellent experience. The ambience was so comfortable yet pleasantly stimulating. The afternoon tea was nice and a straightforward procedure. The choices of tea were vast and different - the Oolong Milk Tea was my favourite, the green tea wasn't remarkable but it was standard. I think the fillings of the sandwiches were quite unique however, the bread was slightly oxidised and borderline stale. I would most definitely returning multiple times as the price per person is excellent for the standard of service. Excellent!"
"Good staff (only the server) but very slow service. Makes people wait even if we have a reservation. We came at 7:20 and started to eat at 8:50. Food was okay but needs to work on the harmony. The purée was too sweat for the meat. The turkey by the way was inedible, it was so chewy. Disappointed since it was a christmas day."
"We loved it here. The staff (sudes) and other staff were fantastic. We had a voucher for a vegan high tea and loved it. 5* service 5* food Highly recommend"
"What a disaster of an afternoon tea!! Right so let's start with the booking. Booked afternoon tea through the website, received an email confirmation almost right away for the day and time selected. Called the restaurant on the day of the booking to postpone the time as my friend and I were running a bit late. No booking could be found on the system according to the (rather nice) lady I had on the phone. Asking if we could have a table nonetheless, she responded that she had availability at 3.30pm, I asked if by any chance she had anything earlier, to which she replied that a slot at 4pm was free. Nevermind that!! Arriving at the hotel early, we were shown to the wait/lounge area, noticing that a very loud group of customers was sat on the opposite side of the hall. Around 3.40pm we were shown to our table and a few minutes later, given the choice between 5 teas... Ha.ha.ha. Avoid their green tea, they can't get the correct water temperature, it is absolutely disgusting. Heads up to anyone wanting to try their menu on the weekend: their menu changes! No eel and another thing I forgot about, but yes, expect differences between the website's menu and "real life" one. Sandwiches were okay - the bread was dry (outside for too long), scones were TINY (for kids?) and the cakes were a massive disappointment - do I need to apologize for having taste buds? The staff made sure to thoroughly show off their lack of training by placing the teapots onto small tea plates, not providing any plate to eat the sandwiches (you shall eat them from the sandwich plate directly. Ha.ha) and seemingly not understanding what refill means. Service charge taken off from the bill. Sorry but that was not worth £60 (one afternoon tea being £30). What does the management at this hotel think the staff is? Please provide them with training asap so that they can serve the customers to the best of their abilities & not having to apologize for their lack of knowledge!"
"Great tiny little place. Trust me when I say tiny. Size of a one double and one single room. (Haven’t seen the terrace though) However lovely staff even though it seemed that they didn’t receive our reservation memo which I though was a bit strange and somewhat unorganised (maybe glitch in the system), they still gave us a table and treated us superb. The food was beautiful especially the chicken with sweet cabbage, that’s quite unusual taste for me yet absolutely beautiful. I was not impressed with the truffle chips, expected more there. Cocktails were nice, classics. And oysters with caviar very tasty. Overall satisfaction achieved although I’d expect to be more fed for the amount spent."
