"Used to be a lovely pub and now is part a gastro pub chain. The Pub bar retains a nice atmosphere and is comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. So far so good! Then the food ! Had a very bland Grumpy Mole Fish Pie accompanied with a small portion of seasonal vegetables that looked and tasted like they had been heated up from the previous night. My friend had Scampi and chips which was fine but not exactly a challenging dish. So disappointed that we decided not to waste out money on their expensive selection of desserts. Would not want to risk revisiting. Sorry"
"First visit to Grumpy Mole in Epsom. What an amazing experience, staff were friendly, huge dining room, so plenty of space between the tables. Three of us had roast beef, all agreed, the best we've ever had. Great believer in you get what you pay for, so worth paying the extra for good quality. Don't live locally but will return."
"Had a meal booked for 8 people at 5pm this evening can’t believe they had sold out of their choice of roast.Only had chicken roast left and this was at 5pm bearing in mind they were open and serving till half past 8 and their main menu being roast dinners with a choice of lamb, beef, chicken or trio of roast. Not acceptable at 5pm which is dinner time. Will not be returning even though the staff were very friendly and accommodating and a lovely atmosphere but just not acceptable"
"Food was nice, and the desserts were good. Disappointed by the snobbery, especially if you have young kids with you."
"We enjoyed a lovely lunch at this Epsom Grumpy Mole, with friendly and efficient service. We have eaten at several other Grumpy Moles and in terms of the food quality this one was slightly under par. My husband's stone for his steak wasn't as hot as it could have been, so he struggled to "cook" his steak to his liking. My liver wasn't as tender as I have had at other venues, but that may be due to the luck of the draw rather than the quality of cooking. We certainly enjoyed our meals though, and my side vegetables were absolutely delicious. Regarding wine, I wouldn't recommend the House Chilean Sauvignon Blanc, it tastes really cheap and metallic. It's very cosy inside, we actually sat in the bar area rather than the restaurant part, as we wanted a more informal experience. There are very few parking spaces available, so expect to park on the road outside. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue, as well as good food and service, it has a warm and inviting atmosphere."
