Reviews
"I note the difficulties experienced by people trying to cancel their subscriptions. I speak as I find and Gourmet Society cancelled my free subscription with just a couple of days left before the renewal was due. I dealt with Rebecca who was exemplary, professional and courteous despite there being a small issue on the account that we had caused. So well done Rebecca!"
"Complete scam, cancelled my free trial, I have email confirmation of this but they're still charging me"
"Be care of their auto renew - rip off Please be very careful about using gourmet society. It is not easy to end the subscriptions and the auto venue facility so make sure you have a plan to review after any ‘free’ or discounted period or they will be happy to keep taking your money even if you’re not using the service."
"I echo the voices of countless others here that feel like they have been scammed out of their money. NEVER sign up for this service as they will just take your money year after year without your consent. They cover themselves of cause by the fact that they do send you an e-mail to let you know but they count on the fact that we have busy lives and change e-mail addresses so if you happen to miss that ever important e-mail from them then they have the right to take your money. This, or any company should never be allowed to do this. In my opinion and apparently many, many others all across Britain who feel the same, this is completely unethical. We should have the right to agree to money being taken from our account, right before it is taken and not a year in the past. And this of cause explains why unethical business practice like this is allowed to flourish. They are 'legally' able to take our money and we should be ok with that according to the young lady on the other end of the telephone when I tried to cancel my subscription the day after they took my money without my consent. They can take it because I didn't say that they couldn't. I refuse to stay silent about what felt like stealing my money. GOURMET SOCIETY, STOP TAKING PEOPLES MONEY without asking them first. Surely you can resort to better business practice. If your product is a good one then people would want to renew their subscription you won't have to resort to this."
"So I've gone through a similar experience as many others when it comes to trying to cancel this subscription, it seems. I had a trial membership, found I wasn't using it. I received the renewal notification email and clicked the cancellation link, and completed the process which should have resulted in me receiving a cancellation code, which never came. I should have followed-up, but this was forgotten. Now a 12-month membership fee has been deducted from my account. I've told them it shouldn't have happened as I tried to cancel, and I don't want the membership. The company has two choices now: Give the customers what they want, or hold them to an agreement against their will using a legal technicality. This company will not refund, even though they know this customer never wanted this membership. This is not a fair or ethical business. They will and do steal money from people."
