"The best thing about this place is location, but also the food and menu is decent and all at a fair price. Fab spot to stop off for lunch beside the canal on a nice day after a good walk."
"This hungry horse pub restaurant is next to the canal giving some rather pleasant views whilst eating or drinking. We visited for an evening meal on one evening, where I had a rather lovely rump steak and also for breakfast a few days later. The menu is full of some random options. For example, with our evening meal we had what is effectively baked camembert as a starter, it comes with a 'Vimto Chutney'. Well I love Vimto... as a drink... not quite as nice as a Chutney. Tasted great as soon as we moved this to one side. Portions are large and kids enjoyed theirs too. Breakfast was also good, and equally some weird options for breakfast, including chicken cornflakes or a breakfast burrito...! Prices are reasonable, and service was good. There is also a small play park outside for the small people."
"Went out as a family with teenage daughter. Tables where sticky, which is never a good sign. We ordered using the App as we saw quite a large queue when we entered. The ordering experience was okay, the drinks arrived pretty quickly (polite staff). It took about 45 minutes for the food to arrive, which I think is a bit long for a place like this. I had the mixed grill. - Anemic sausages - Dry and boring chicken - Gammon not much thicker than bacon - Small steak cooked okay - Chips that aren't real (use potatoes) We noticed that they did a free starter or pudding on a Thursday when you purchased a big meal (mixed grill included in this). When we finished I went to the bar to order my free pudding but was told that I had to order it at the start and that I would have to pay for the pudding... I don't about you, but I never know what I'll fancy for a pudding until after I've eaten my main ... Also, depending on how quick service is, we sometimes don't bother, so difficult to order in advance. I begrudgingly agreed to pay for a pudding (my daughter wanted the millionaires cheesecake) but was then told that they had run out of all puddings except 3! Unhappy teenager and parent! I have been to this place before on a lunchtime in summer and thought it was great."
"I’m giving this 5 star as it’s exactly what it says on the tin. It’s obviously not a gourmet restaurant with a famous chef… it’s a hungry horse chain. I had the fish and chips and it was nice, not sure it could have been any better for the price. They also serve brewdog beer which was nice. There were a lot of families in there and this meant it was loud but there was an 18+ area if you wanted to sit away from the noise which is nice."
