"We dined upstairs. It was quite, calm and clean. The humus and bread were excellent. We loved the ribs. There was complementary Turkish tea at the end. I am afraid the service was very poor. The staff appeared professional but the food took more than an hour to be served. This was when only less than half the tables were occupied. The rice and the wheat did not taste fresh. We went there on Friday night."
"Went this evening, Christmas Eve with my family. It was fairly quiet in the restaurant, the place itself was clean. I did feel a little chill as the temperature could have been put up slightly. We ordered soft juice and mojitos- classic mint and lime. I was placing an order for a salad as a starter but the young gentleman serving us said he would be bringing out complementary salad, dips, hummus and bread, so I didn't order the salad. Our mains was a family platter of chicken, kebabs, wings, ribs, meat cubes, rice, bulgar wheat and roasted vegetables. We were told it was a wait of 20 minutes. Hummus came in a small dipping bowl with another sauce, can't remember it's name. Two breads cut in to strips and a small dish of salad. Perfect size as it wasn't going to fill us up too much. We didn't wait too long before the family platter came. We all dug in, it was delicious. Two young teenagers along side my husband all enjoyed the meat platter. We did struggle to finish it all off, packed the rest to take home. It was a enjoyable meal out, boys went in to food coma!! Price wise it's not overly priced We were very happy will our bill. We went after 3 years don't know why we left it so long to go back. The staff were friendly, not too in your face, checked on us and left us to enjoy our meal."
"Disappointing experience. Family platter was decent portion for 5-6 adults, ordered with 4 extra chops, costs £41.95 + £12. 250ml cokes £2.25, don't do jugs. Bottled water, no tap water. FOOD: Taste was average, not like other local Turkish places. Chicken and meats got very dry very fast (2-3mins). Kids complained about same problem with their donners (all pictured). Spacious restaurant. Street parking. Cash only, atm next door 99p charge but free atm 1min away after Fargo's. Go Afrikana instead, much better experience there."
"We went during the early afternoon on a weekday and there was only one other table of two seated when we arrived. Upon entering, we were seated and were only told ‘cash only’ upon ordering. Tap water wasn’t allowed to be served - when queried, we were advised “I don’t know, it’s just what management has told us”. So one of us went to the cash point which the waiter said was 4 shops away, whilst the other waited and then we found out the nearest cash point charges 99p. We also took this chance to get our drinks as we refused to pay £1.49 for a plastic bottle of water. 2 empty plates were brought over, one being slightly chipped. The place felt a bit tired - perhaps because it wasn’t the cleanest…I only noticed I was sat on some dirty seats at this point. The drinks menu was also worn and not the cleanest. Whilst my companion was still out, the waiter brought over some bread, a small serving of salad and some sauces. A nice touch, but what would have been nicer if they asked if they should wait until my companion came back. The bread was reheated bread - you could tell as it was cold and not as fresh tasting in the middle. I also found out later the party of three were being given the option of having their bread starter served with an alternative topping. We ordered the platter and were told it would be around half an hour, which we expected. It was served with rice and wheat but no salad - the salad to start with was a very small amount and so more salad wouldn’t have gone amiss. The rice and bulgar was luke warm and it’s a good job I wasn’t here for just this - I didn’t touch any of it but my partner ate it just so it wasn’t wasted. The meat was flavoured & cooked to a great standard (ribs, wings, lamb Shish, chicken shish, 1 adana, and a bit of chicken & meat donner) - my only complaint is that the serving of both meat & chicken donner was extremely miserly. Another thing to note - their website notes the cost of the platter at £24.95 for takeaway and £27.95 for eat in yet the menu charge is £29.95. The service was average. The couple who were there when we arrived had left whilst we were there and another party of 3 arrived before we left. I definitely wouldn’t say the experience was worth the almost £30, but at least the chef did a great job with the meat."
"Went in as a family group of 16 people, adults and kids. Ordered several family platers, pizza and sides. The food was absolutely fantastic. The portion sizes are huge. The cuisine recommends 4 people for a family size platter, but it could honestly feed 6 and more some. Bulga rice was my favourite, so would highly recommend. Employees were professional and attentive. As the ground floor was packed, they had kindly arranged upstairs dinning area for a large family group and had our orders all ready within 30-40mins without any booking, on top of that, only two employees were working and they were understaffed. One employee had a broken arm, so you can see the commitment! You won't be disappointed."
