"Visited last night (Saturday) with my partner and two friends. Over priced compared with portion size, items unavailable from an already small menu, bland dishes, lacking in atmosphere and uninterested staff led to an seriously underwhelming experience, but it was the bland dishes that were the biggest disappointment by far. This restaurant is proof how glossy social media images can make poor quality food look appetising. A rundown of the dishes we ordered: Arancini £8.00 - not available. Offered a cheesy garlic bread that wasn’t on the menu. This was ok but not outstanding. Focaccia £5.75 - extremely dense and dry, and hardly any seasoning. Gamberoni £12.00 - tasted like preprepared prawns, not fresh and sauce was warm, not hot as expected. Burrata £9.50 - This was my ok however hardly a difficult dish to put together. Posh Nonna Gone Wild £20.00 - Described as “Nonna’s creamy truffle sauce with wild mushrooms and parmesan” - Nonna had definitely forgotten to add the cream. The dish was £16.00 but selected to add chicken at £4.00 which again appeared to be preprepared. Nonna Goes to America £11.00 - Described as “Nonna’s take on Mac & Cheese with truffle and herb crumb”. It was dry with hardly any cheese sauce and had an overwhelming taste of oregano. Friend ate approximately a quarter of it before giving up. Nonna’s Cacio e Pepe £10.50 - described as “mediocre” by friend who ordered it. Albeit different styles of pasta, there are far better pasta kitchens within Manchester City centre which are warm, friendly and serve good quality, tasty food. Unfortunately the whole experience at Nonna’s was poor and we won’t be back."
"We went on a recommendation from a friend and were very disappointed. I can now see why there are so many 1-2 star reviews, saying the food is bland. Positives - service was nice, friendly and quick. And the cocktails and the homemade limoncello were nice. The food however was so bland. 2 of us had the seafood pasta in the pomodoro sauce. I've never had a seafood dish anywhere that had no taste of seafood. Or taste of any kind, really. It was like eating pasta with a tin of Aldi chopped tomatoes... tasteless and watery. I thought I'd been struck down with Covid again and lost my sense of taste. And a mussel shell had also shattered in the bowl, so you had to pick bits of shell out of every mouthful. One other had the pasta with butter and pepper... They enjoyed the taste, but the portion was tiny. Like a small collection of baby worms, hiding at the bottom of a large bowl. There are many many good Italian restaurants in Manchester, that they really need to up their game. Such a shame :-("
"I was so impressed by this place. The waiter also kindly squeezed us in even tho we didn't have a booking, let us customize our food, and everything was sorted quickly efficiently and with an amazing friendly tone. If every restaurant I went to was like this I would never eat at home! Thank you so much made my day."
"Went to this restaurant last night and the food was fantastic but the attitude from the Manager was dreadful. We had accidentally booked the next Tuesday instead of yesterday online for the 50% off deal but the Manager said he wouldn’t allow us to transfer it as he now classed us as walk-ins. When we asked the waitress for the bill she had applied the 50% discount, the Manager saw this when he brought the card reader over and decided to remove the discount. Both these instances show such poor customer service that we will not be going back. The Manager then told off the waitress in front of us which did not make for a nice atmosphere."
"I was pretty satisfied with my experience at Nonna’s Pasta - the pasta hit the spot and tasted good. However, what really impressed me was the service. The staff at Nonna's were incredibly friendly and attentive. They made sure our table was always well-stocked with drinks and checked in on us regularly to make sure everything was to our liking. The servers were also patient and helpful when it came to answering questions about the menu and making recommendations."
