Bowers Park Pool
Bowers Park Pool, located at 2101 Bowers Park Drive in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, offers American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Recertification. Participants can get certified and work for PARA this summer, earning $12/hr. The Lifeguard Training is a five-day class that includes a prerequisite swim on the first day. Participants must demonstrate swimming abilities such as swimming 300 yards continuously, treading water for 2 minutes using only legs, and retrieving a 10lb brick from the pool. Practice is free at any PARA pool for registered Lifeguarding Class participants. Employment applications for lifeguard positions are available at the Miller Center on April 20 and 21, as well as at the Faucett Center on April 5, 6, and 7. Lifeguards are responsible for monitoring activities in the swimming areas, maintaining the pool and deck, and assisting swimmers as needed. All applicants are subject to pre-employment background checks and drug screens.
