Robert Cardinal Park is a beautiful park located at 7325 Robert Cardinal Airport Road in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States. The park is dedicated to Robert "Bobby" Cardinal, who served as the Tuscaloosa Regional Airport Manager from 1968 until his tragic death in 1977. Mr. Cardinal played a crucial role in the development of the airport, overseeing the lengthening of runways, construction of a terminal and facilities, and improving commercial air service in Tuscaloosa. In addition to his work in aviation, Mr. Cardinal was involved in various civic and business affairs, serving as a flight instructor in WWII, board member and aviation committee chairman for the Chamber of Commerce, trustee of the Tuscaloosa Academy, and a member of the Exchange Club of Tuscaloosa. The park features a T-33 trainer plane, "Shooting Star," which was gifted to the City of Tuscaloosa by the Air Force in 1963. The plane was airlifted to the park ahead of its dedication ceremony on September 17, 1981.
