"Long review, but important information. As someone with chronic health conditions, I know the importance of a doctor who listens and believes you. You will not find that here. At least not with Dr.Nguyen. I was referred to him after the neurologist I was seeing found a certain type of cyst in my cervical spine. I was experiencing neck and upper back pain that was worsening by the day and had begun wearing compression gloves full time due to chronic and severe hand pain. I had become unable to work due to my symptoms and needed to discuss options. I saw Dr.Nguyen and when he took me back to the room he said he needed to look at my MRI images really quick and he’d be back. He probably spent 2-3 minutes maximum and then he was back. He informed me my cyst was too small and shouldn’t cause me problems. I told him all of my symptoms and that it was really effecting my life and livelihood. He said he would not perform surgery because I am “too young” and “can walk” and just told me to see him again for more imaging in 6 months and he could also send me to PT for my hands (never received that phone call, by the way.) I left feeling hopeless and discouraged but decided to get a second opinion. I saw another neurosurgeon in the area that told me since there wasn’t an obvious reason within my cervical spine or my brain that would tell us WHY my cyst had formed, he wanted to look further and decided to order an MRI on my thoracic spine. Lo and behold, they found a SECOND, different kind of cyst below the first that would have created the first. With two blockages, spinal fluid is not flowing and until that is remedied, my symptoms would most likely become permanent and I would have irreversible damage to my spinal cord. My pain is now up to a severe level and I am still not working, however I am finally in the process of getting scheduled for the surgery to remove the second cyst! All this to say, if Dr.Nguyen had listened to me and asked the questions that are HIS JOB to ask, maybe my condition wouldn’t have worsened as it has. It’s lucky I decided to find a second provider, because if I hadn’t I would be even worse off. Doctors who brush off patients for arbitrary reasons are dangerous and even thoughts damage (luckily) will most likely not be permanent, it very well could have been and even without that, because of this my pain has been prolonged."
