"BEWARE!! We hired Chris to remove collapsing stone retaining walls and replace, including a new retaining wall to terrace one of the hills, as well as new steps, sidewalk and patio extension. We wanted poured concrete for the walls, but he assured me that cement block would be simpler and less expensive as well as effective. Work began in late October and progressed nicely for about 3 weeks. Then “another job” or “family matter” intervened, with promises to return in a couple of days. At that point work became sporadic at best as one thing after another interfered. ( Weather also would become an issue as the seasons changed.) The job sat dormant and unfinished through winter, with Chris’ equipment and tools strewn throughout the worksite including an excavator. Multiple calls and texts to Chris were met with, “as soon as we get a couple nice days we will be out to finish up.” Nice weather periods came and went, no Chris. Spring came along with nice weather and more promises, but still no Chris. The work was shoddy, some of which was already beginning to deteriorate. Veneer on the block walls is falling off. Blocks appear not to be filled properly, the blocks are not level. One gap in the walls was filled with broken block pieces, I assume to be hidden snd veneered over. No back fill or drainage was installed behind the walls. The footers are not properly installed below the ground.Always same story: “we’ll be out in few days” but always no shows. In June I told Chris he was off the job, I was tired of empty promises, eight months was long enough, and I was going to hire another contractor to fix his mess. Now I am out the thousands of dollars paid and have to pay for this disaster to be removed and the job done properly."
