Welcome to Mercer County Soil & Water Conservation District
Located at 4978 Mud Pike Road, Celina, Ohio 45822, Mercer County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the soil, water resources, and natural habitats in Mercer County. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for both present and future generations by promoting sustainable conservation practices.
As a legally organized subdivision of the state of Ohio, the Mercer SWCD operates under Chapter 940 of the Ohio Revised Code. We are committed to conserving soil, water, and natural resources, working closely with the community to implement effective conservation programs.
Our funding is sourced primarily from the Mercer County Commissioners and the Ohio Department of Agriculture – Division of Soil and Water Conservation, with state-matched funds as outlined in the state budget. The District is managed by a dedicated five-member Board of Supervisors, each serving a three-year term. These supervisors volunteer their time to administer district programs, coordinate with government agencies, and establish conservation priorities.
The Board of Supervisors, including Scott Tobin (Vice-Chairman), Pete Hinders (Public Relations), Mike Dues (Treasurer/Fiscal Agent), and Garrett Hellwarth (Secretary), along with our staff and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), work collaboratively to serve the people of Mercer County. We invite community members to join us in our conservation efforts and help implement sound environmental practices.
Our Board of Supervisors meets monthly to discuss and manage the District's affairs. Meetings are typically held on the second Friday of each month in the Ag Center Conference Room at our office. Please note that meeting dates, times, and locations are subject to change.
