About the Business

Leroy Township Fire & Rescue

Welcome to Leroy Township Fire & Rescue

Located at 13028 Leroy Center Road, Painesville, Ohio 44077, Leroy Township Fire & Rescue has been proudly serving the community since 1953. Originally established as an all-volunteer department, we have grown into one of the finest fire stations in the area, dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.

Our Commitment to Safety

At Leroy Township Fire & Rescue, we are committed to protecting our community through proactive fire prevention, emergency response, and public education. We offer a range of services designed to keep our residents safe and informed. One critical aspect of our mission is to educate the public about the risks associated with open burning and to promote alternatives that safeguard health and property.

Open Burning Regulations

Open burning poses significant risks to health, property, and the environment. It is crucial to understand and adhere to regulations to prevent harmful effects, such as toxic emissions and property damage. We urge residents to be aware of what materials can be safely burned and to explore alternative disposal methods.

For those considering open burning, please note:

- Open burning is not permitted within 1,000 feet of an inhabited building off the property.

- Fires must not obstruct visibility for roadways, railroads, or airfields.

- Wastes generated off-premises cannot be burned.

- Written permission from Ohio EPA is required for burning prohibited materials or setting fires in restricted areas.

Permitted Fires

Certain types of open burning are allowed with prior permission. These include fires for cooking, training firefighters, and specific agricultural practices. For all permitted fires, please notify Leroy Township Fire & Rescue in advance.

Obtaining a Permit

All open burning in Leroy Township requires a permit from the Lake County General Health District. Once approved by the county and signed by the Fire Chief, a free permit will be issued for Lake County residents, valid for the calendar year. A designated phone number must be called each time the permit is used.

Community Engagement

Stay connected with us throughout the year by visiting our Events/Notices page for Fire Department-sponsored events and activities. We are dedicated to fostering a strong, safe, and informed community.
