About the Business

Lake County Veterans Services

Welcome to Lake County Veterans Services

Located at 105 Main Street, Painesville, Ohio 44077, Lake County Veterans Services is a dedicated local government office committed to serving the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. As a proud part of the official government network, our website is secured with HTTPS to ensure the safe sharing of sensitive information.

Our mission at Lake County Veterans Services is to provide comprehensive support and advocacy for veterans and their dependents in Lake County. We act as a crucial liaison between veterans and the various agencies from which they may be entitled to benefits, including the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and state and local agencies. Our team of County Veterans Service Officers (CVSO) is composed of highly trained professionals who are themselves veterans, ensuring that we understand the unique needs of those we serve.

We offer temporary financial assistance to veterans and their families in times of dire financial emergency, helping with basic living needs such as rent, utility bills, food, and prescriptions. Additionally, we assist in seeking long-term benefits to improve the quality of life for veterans and their families.

Our officers are accredited by esteemed organizations including the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, VFW, DAV, American Legion, Amvets, Marine Corps League, Ohio Department of Veterans Services, and the Federal Department of Veterans Affairs. We are dedicated to ensuring that veterans’ claims are processed efficiently and favorably, as supported by research from the Institute for Defense Analysis.

The Lake County Veterans Service Commission, established on May 19, 1886, operates under Section 5901 of the Ohio Revised Code. We are proud to be part of Ohio’s unique system of veteran support, with each of the state’s 88 counties having a dedicated board of veterans to administer local programs.

Inspired by President Abraham Lincoln’s commitment to care for those who have borne the battle, we strive to uphold the highest standards in service and advocacy for our veterans. Whether you need assistance navigating benefits, temporary financial help, or support in times of hardship, we are here to help at no cost to you.

For more information, please contact us at 1-800-899-5253. We look forward to serving you with the respect and dedication you deserve.

"The office is very helpful and invaluable. Mike Hatton helped me receive benefits that I never knew I qualified for. Plus, I have recommended him to several other veterans who have benefited from his hard work. The office has helped several people get gravestone plaques for family members. Overall, one of the best offices in the county services."

"I went to Veterans Services in 2019 and got to work with Jami Who helped me with a Claim With the VA. The claim process was easily explained and she did most of the work! The claim was accepted by T he VA and this is something I should have done decades ago. Just last week she assisted my once again with a Voc Rehab Claim it was approved in less than a week. I have to say that she did all the work on this claim, all I did was answer questions and listen to her guidance. When I went in last week ,Jami was not available to speak to me and I talked to Michael, who was extremely helpful despite the fact that he was not my service officer. He spent quite a bit of time answering questions about employment and loan opportunities that I had concerns about. I could not have had a better experience in all of my encounters there. Thanks to both of you for your help."
